  1. Thought about unzipping the no.1 firehose but I had not had the six pints of beer necessary to make it work!. Somebody ran for a bucket of water which did work luckily.
  2. thanks, I will have fire extinguishers nearby!
  3. I think that an ember must have blown out of the bonfire and been sitting in the grass and some how a wheel picked it up and threw it into the oily sump area. Big day tomorrow when I try to start it! Two people standing by with fire extinguishers! Another irritation is that it burnt the throttle cable and welded the thing together and I cannot fit a new one until the boom is raised right up out of the way which should work on idle.
  4. Just rounding up a bonfire with the Matbro at what I thought was a safe distance with 6 metre boom extended and a muck grab on the end. No flames near the cab end of the machine. Set out across the field to where my colleague was working, turned the engine off and chatted for a bit. Climbed back into the cab and woof! Major flames out of the engine compartment. No water nearby and no fire extinguisher stupidly so it burned for a couple of minutes before we could put it out Been having fun today cutting burnt wires and rejoining with those plastic joiners with low temperature solder inside that you heat with a heat gun it melted the starter solenoid, and it burned a fuel filter and several hoses. As they say in Lincolnshire “ I coulda done wiyout it!”

  10. Yes I was looking forward to seeing a Lucas v Peterson shootout. Fuelwood said that they cannot import any Lucas 'Mills at the moment but were not sure of the reason. I think that if Caleb from Clarkson's Farm had been there and seen the machines like the ones in William127's photos above he would have said " They're too effing big!"
  11. Sorry to have missed you yesterday, but myself everyone around me could not ring anybody, everyone's phone kept coming back with number not available. Never seen this problem before anyone know the cause? On the plus side I did not see one beer belly, but many fit people of both sexes! Lovely weather and friendly conversations everywhere. So much similar machinery that it must be hard for the manufacturers to make a profit. Grabs around every corner! The £15 I paid for two coffees and two small carrot cakes just makes me want to charge £300 for a box of logs to keep up with inflation!
  12. Just a thought should it be a harsh one and heating bills are in another league. I see that there are sleeping bag heated liners for about £30 powered by a lithium phone backup battery. May be helpful if you have a vulnerable family member or neighbour who is too scared to turn on the heating because of the cost Mcota Heated Sleeping Bag Liner With Zipper Lightweight Travel Sheet Camping Sleep Bag Prevent Dirty On Business Hotel Hiking – Electro Swags WWW.ELECTROSWAGS.COM t

  18. Correct, taken in the Lincolnshire Wolds
  19. We used to farm near Lynn as well, but on the South side. On a clear day like today, I can see Wolferton from the top of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I did not know the family, but father may have. Do not know if they are related to the Larringtons of trailer and hydraulics near Boston.
  20. View from America
  21. Well I never realised that I was a Gary Boy, had to look it up! But you are correct, I did have a loud stereo blasting out Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher! Had to be loud due to the two straight through exhausts ending with a pair of Peco silencers Gary Boy - Urban Dictionary https://www.urbandictionary.com › define › term=Gary... Much like a Barry boy, a Gary boy drives around in a car (usually some old model they bought second hand) with the music pumped up so loud that it shakes
