  1. that looks unpredictable =( but clipping only to one of these stitched loops would also do the trick what for there is told to make a extra twist, am I right?
  2. ^ ended up to looking through your enormous collection of inspiring ingenuity , thanks for it. history of treeclimbing written
  3. I would girth hitch the sling on the D even it shortens a little, too much slopping and potentially crossloading crabs now
  4. buying any used PPE is risk not worth taking IMO
  5. Hello again from Finnish spring! First of all I have to apologize from those who are starving in a lack of bandwith but had to put it like this because I were so pumped after got this done. I also have to point out that this is yet to become my profession (maybe some day) and only a loved hobby giving me thrills and great joy of success. Starting view, two largish birches to take out shading the yard and devastating the roof Started climbing Apparently having fun even though pretty rough without spikes Riggin down leaning top of closest stem Then got into another stem after sweeping branches off Blocking down Finally pulling leftovers over Just got engaged and I strongly suppose that Im in love View after some felling
  6. only problem i find that you are willing to use DdRT =)
  7. o-rig is fine and with it you can use whatever pulley
  8. Which kind of main climbing system you have, depending of it you might have to slightly modify your needs. Ascension and footloop to left foot, pantin right and up you go.
  9. CE marking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  10. Smaller diameter friction cords would bind easier and too thick wont grab so well. Trial and error At least it should be thinner than your main line or how?
  11. This thing got its virginity taken yesterday, four hours in the tree and worked well, now its possible to remove the snaphook if needed and it worked as expected as throwable secondary line while manoeuvring through a canopy.
  12. ^ ^ ^These timelapses were cool but pine takedown was painstakingly overkilled I would say knowing nothing about what was underneath.
  13. jep but since I dont have stitching machine nor splicing ability have to keep it rude and rumble
  14. ^ of course but still designing these things for some safety factors ^^ Rumination: Like this? Have to give it a go and inspect afterwards how it survived
  15. Stitched end would be perfect but not sure if there is any tailor to this trade around. Is it possible to splice, beal industrie 11
  16. Just climbing rec so no need for examining and these are used in everywhere in lanyards , roofjobs, arb lanyards and so on. Bought today some thimbles and there is one tied onto fisherman. Due to cinching of a knot I think thimble would cause a problem by digging into my knot and busting the rope or more worse open it somehow With a throwball I meant that when Im on the canopy and I need to get for example to another stem or branch far away from me I could reach it with my longer lanyard. No need to throw it all the way from ground. For it I have proper throwline and bits
  17. heck, thimble might be the thing, have to find suitable knot to tie onto it, any thoughts?
  18. Ok, maybe no reason to worry about the bend radius but the knot, I think fisherman would slide over the loop due to it being so narrow and then somehow loosen out?
  19. I bought steelcrab like this for end of my long strop and thought it would work as a throwball but then I began to think would it be safe to tie into this loop cause it´s kinda thin and would make a bend radius thinner than a rope. What would be the best way attach this thing to a 11mm beal? using fishermans on my other normal crabs
  20. I have the new one and what I found out after few popouts that getting it out intentionally is trickier, tends to only lift up and end under my butt still grabbing the rope might need some muscle memory there too
  21. I made my own too (unveiled in my setup-thread) and I´m loving it, today had an 3h rec climb in a large beech and its rocking and also creaking a little =)
  22. If you are climbig DdRT hand over hand and tend the slack with pantin then I would say you would get some help from ascender due to it is easier to grab than thin rope
  23. I started with normal climbing harness but lots of movement and hanging from harness made my belay loop to wear and thats what I dont want, so decided to buy proper thing. Pretty cool to start with, uncomfortable and maybe impossible to sit for some people any longer than 15 secs =)
