  3. Went out for a walk this morning with the dog an the boy and we found these under an overgrown blackthorn hedge, think its honey fungus armillaria mallea ATTACH]165678[/ATTACH] And this on an oak tree Think it is a ganoderma Please correct me if I am wrong tho, still trying to learn Thanks will
  4. An old boy I do some work for asked me to get this saw running for him. I managed to get it to fire and run for about 2 mins but every time I tried it since it has run for less time.I took it back to him today and it fired but wouldn't run. I suggested that he bought a new one and to retire the old. He asked me to sell it on eBay but I thought I would see if anyone on here wanted it first
  5. Might be wrong but I think hornets are protected, sorry. They should die of natural causes by the winter. This'll give the queen time to go and hibernate for next year
  6. Ours can be driven as an auto, flick a switch and it changes to semi auto and you have to use what would be the wipers stalk to change up or down but I don't use this much. Ours has no clutch, hence difficulty doing slow manoeuvres, when I have driven auto cars before you can manoeuvre slowly by lightly pushing the brake while it drives on tickover but our lorry does not move on tick over or if you touch the brake. I have tried reving it with my foot on the brake but don't get no drive
  7. When you say suitable size, 8 inch logs 4 foot cord or 3m lengths?
  8. We have 3 manual ivecos and one auto. they are good lorries generally. The auto is good to drive on the open road, but when you come to pull away from stopped at junction or roundabout when you put your foot down there is a slight delay and then when the auto box changes from 1st to2nd it seems to take an age so you need to leave a bigger gap to pull into. Also when reversing the throttle is a pain cos it won't go really slowly so you end up jumping backwards, nightmare with the chipper on. Or when hitching up the chipper. My opinion- wait and buy a manual. They are a lot better for what we do and how we drive them
  9. Found this inonotus dryadeus on an oak tree at the apf today, anyone else spot it?
  10. I'm sorry, but I hope they work better than they look!
  11. I'd send her my hi flex trousers. I always tear the ass seam( prob need bigger pair!) after about six months, I manage to sew up the little holes but the big ass seam tear normally resigns them to the bin! Also I always put superglue on my stitching it holds it together forever!
  12. No, just wear welly boots
  13. Thanks spud, Just what i want
  14. Scarily true:(
  15. No they will all just buy discos
  16. Went for a walk with the kids and missus in savernake forest today found these few Think this one is ganoderma appalatum These were on a fallen oak log This one was just starting to grow on a beech tree Meripilus giganteus I know this one is daldinia Honey fungus? On a birch I tried to identify these using the fungi app, but I am only just starting to take an interest in fungi so any help or correction would be appreciated Thanks will
  17. Impressive stack of logs! Nicely loaded trailer! We'll done on getting that lot out!
  18. When I have put one back together I half took another apart to see where all the bits go, easyest way. But if you can't I'm sure there must be exploded diagrams on the web. I've just smashed my top handle again and have to replace it, I hate the flippin job
  19. Great, didn't think so many would still be using them! Stubby-Thanks for suggesting spud, his saws have always sounded good. Spud-I'll pm you in the next few weeks when I go back home and collect the saw, are there different levels of porting to give a happy medium of power and reliability?
  20. My boy found this one today, he said "What's this daddy?" I told him it was an oak apple and explained about the wasp. Love showing him things like this!
  21. I bought mine new in 1997 from Tavistock chainsaws when I did my forestry nvq with Tavistock woodland services. Used on and off for about 5 years. Can anyone recommend someone who could rebuild it and possibly port it and do a muffler mod. I live in Hungerford but work all over hants, and I'm in no rush to get it done Thanks will
  22. Tom d's 254 thread reminded me that I have my old 254xp in the shed. Wasn't running quite right so got put away. Anyway is it worth getting it looked at and maybe ported? I did fit a new piston 5 years ago so may only need new seals etc. Would love to use it again
