  1. Is it like the Stihl cap with an o ring?. I bought a few spare o rings instead of the cap as it's usually the chip that damaged the seal, maybe go down a thickness or a softer NBR.
  2. Swapping landownership from lord of the manor to the tennant farmers barely changed the makeup in a financial sense. Realistically the lord charged enough rent to make it profitable, the tennant equally enough to make it profitable without the upfront cost of buying and the debt. Farming is probably great in the flatlands, you try that on the hills of Cheshire and Derbyshire and I guarantee you'll be crying in your cornflakes of destitution. You'll always need a second or third job even with the subsidies!.
  3. I cut out the charcoal step and just use the wood chippings 😉
  4. So you're probably in for about 850 ex vat. Personally I'd be under there like a whippet scribbling part numbers for a little Google session.
  5. As it drained back into the tank ?. Okay, if you crack the fuel filter and crank the lift pump does fuel immediately flow out or does the whole pipe need to fill again ?.
  6. It's a bit like say NS Sherlock. They just think farms are there to just make the countryside nice for their Sunday walk. I had this discussion once or twice about a fence, oooh isn't this nice, yeah it cost me 3 grand. Coughing, how much yeah and that was the cheapest quote.
  7. If it's 600 including the vat, fitting and oil, it's probably not worth thinking about. If that's not then it's a different matter 🙂
  8. Gurgling as it drained back onto the tank you mean ?. Which would indicate it's feeding back and therefore not holding prime, as the fuel should stay put even with the filter removed, that's why you manually prime and preferably also fill the new filter before firing up any diesel. Lift pumps are cheap, do the filters whilst it's apart as you never know what's gone where. Plus fuel filters are like a tenner, change regularly if you're getting fuel from unknown sources and approx 250 hours.
  9. More out of curiosity, what you planning on running from it. As that sort of size indicates space heaters and maybe cookers these days?.
  10. Plus if you are wanting it for a lifetime get the 1500 rpm version. The high speed screamers don't last as long plus are a bit loud.
  11. Yeap, auction prices are usually a good indicator, plus if the old machinery stops going for export will also be a good indicator. Maybe it'll create a boom in spare parts orders, granted probably not from the manufacturers as they're milking it with the like of John Deere but from independents.
  12. Only 18 years, I'd want the money back plus interest for the truck!.
  13. The machinery side of things is going to be people buying new equipment, the prices are already beyond being mental. Which is obvious when you see the numbers of manufacturers and dealerships closing or downsizing as people can't afford new equipment unless you're Dyson. Granted IHT might force anyone with a viable business to actually keep more equipment on finance or rental agreements so they never actually own the equipment. A few grand a month Vs 100k on the books and taxable.

  15. Instead of buying some obsolete, obscure tat. Go to a shop and actually see what they have and recommend as it'll need to be upto regs and installed correctly. Buy cheap and be rewarded with an almost annual skip it and repeat every year.
  16. I was trying to remember if they did the old FA cup draw out of a velvet bag ?.
  17. 1st of April we randomly select the colours at random out of bucket ?
  18. Why would I want my accountant involved in something that needs to be simpler and fairer ?.
  19. I'm sure an OEM one from @Jase hutch won't be too bad.
  20. Robber Rachel probably wants access to your bank account. Another of Gordon's great Narnia style ideas, we handle your money and give you what we think is fair, maybe if Tony wasn't a bit short that week.
  21. Don't quote me but I remember seeing something about California where they made it illegal or something like that to just use your own solar. Plus that's before we get into an industry where you're car is digital, so some little guy in India might clock it for you!.
  22. He probably thought it was still pre American civil war. Plus wasn't Kamala promising legal weed for all those black folk?
  23. What's the obsession with making life and tax EVEN more complicated?. You pay for fuel and that's kinda done with for petrol and diesel. These shenanigans should only apply to EVs. Mrs miggins who does no miles except the supermarket gets to keep her 1litre and needs to pay no more
  24. Leave road tax and fuel alone. All EVs at service/mot or over the air like a smart meter pay say half what they would from the equivalent petrol or diesel. Plus get ready, brace brace brace touch you're toes as you know what's coming.
  25. You're just making it a Gordon brown style system. How many pages is the tax advise something like 1200 pages and was before Gordon like 600. You make a system simple, so everyone pays equally to what they earn. That way we all know the score instead of CEOs paying less tax than the cleaners.
