  1. Whilst not my greatest picture, that's my boiler room, think car sized space.
  2. I only mention the sweep, as most won't certificate a illegal install.
  3. Regulations aren't usually retrospective, however there should be a certificate and a installer data plate close to the fireplace. If not then your neighbors could be correct in it not meeting regulations. Has it been swept by a chimney sweep tho?, As it does look close to opening velux windows. Document J, page 31
  4. I've a 25kw eco Angus, but space is something you will definitely need. Probably looking around 15k installed, if you can connect it to your existing system. Is it a combo oil boiler or do you have a hot water tank ?
  5. Whilst it says 1-2 week back order, why is the whole thing cheaper than just the replacement pump motor that's listed under the listing?.
  6. As has been suggested, get yourself some eco plugs and kill the root and any remaining suckers.

Stubby definitely got the shooting reference!. Plus, how else would you even heavy metal poison a squirrel ?.
  9. Probably best to get it cleaned instead of just thrashing it in an effort to clear it out. Plus if it's blocked too much you'll have to fit a new one. Always dubious about the additives as the electronics just adjusts the fuel mixture according to the lambda sensors, if the fuel is rich it just adds less. It does cleans out your tank tho, so filters will be next on the list.

If God is a squirrel I am well and truly going to be on first name terms with him downstairs after the several thousand I've given heavy metal poisoning.
  11. I've been down this rabbit hole a year or two back, take the cowl off and have a look at the locking lugs before spending any money. I had one that looked like Selkirk but the locking lugs were totally different, glad I checked before spending any money as it was also knackered after 10 years. But would say after 18 years best get it checked internally, I had to bite the bullet for 1.5k for a complete new flue.

I will quite happily commit industrial scale genocide if they're horse flies tho, if there is a god he must have let the devil design that poor excuse for an animal.

Erm, you're cutting down it's home so which are are going to feel more guilty about?.
  14. Only problem is things like the clean air in cities meant euro 6, think it meant a L200 after 2016. Greater Manchester have paused it but that was 493 square miles charging zone but Andy Burnham had wanted an even larger zone, but the wheels are always turning so know they'll do something else.
  15. They had said the smaller pm 2.5 is able to get into the bloodstream. Think that might have been from the fireplace regulations, but you get the rough idea.
  16. The green types will lament about it's all about the emmisons, which when you think back old diesels did 70+mpg and smoked a little. New diesels are what 50mpg with all this dpf, variable and multiple electronic injection per stroke Vs the old one injection per stroke. Whilst it might be cleaner exhaust is it really better to be burning for the sake of argument 20% more fuel ?. They have been saying particulate sizes have gotten smaller and as a result more dangerous, but I'm unsure if they measured that small in the past ?.
  17. They weren't generating the energy tho, they were in effect a middle man
  18. Even cun rey folk don't want to smell of elderberries
  19. Well Nicola will blame us, so we'll be paying
  20. Could be drought stress, that being said the acorns weren't any smaller than usual.
  21. But it's not in a plastic tray with an expiration date I'll hear them cry. Don't give just eats ideas, suppose it's better than delivering McDonalds
  22. Well someone has to supervise the apprentice. I'm not allowed after last time, that's why I work alone 🙂
  23. Well we all pay in a manner of speaking. Not a drone, just a self employed farming, engineering and firewood type. It's a bit like the whole smart meter BS they always traipse out saying you can save loads by knowing etc. I can guarantee you I can't, every appliance is relatively new, LEDs everywhere.
  24. Well you do have to wonder realistically how much would I get in all those grants. I'm guessing there's wouldn't be much change out of 60k if all those things are covered ?. And how much would I have to pay ?.
  25. It'll probably be easier for them to just knock on your door and say get out before they strip, rebuild and give you the keys back in six months time.
