Are you an ex UPVC salesman?. You've still failed to actually have a convincing argument, except lament about how great this new quasi religious organisation is. There are plenty of other similar schemes and trade organisations, until the quickening happens maybe scale back the one true religion overtones.

From my yoof, it's the whole ISO9000 argument. One of my old bosses put it like this. Its not a sign of quality, it's just shows your able to produce the same sht consistently.

Granted you can't deregulate councils, like your electric with each house being different. But they definitely need a reality check, maybe a clearing out of town hall upper management. Employ a normal salary CEO say 100k and let the chainsaw of the financial cloth begin.

I'm aware of the utter wastefulness of council taxes by procurement etc. I wasn't taking offense if the council chooses to use AA as a minimum as that's their right, I did however at assumption in general of no membership no work. The other organizations might say approved, but many councils wouldn't say this one and this one only. As I said that would make it a cartel, if your not on the list it's a work black list of the 70s.

I'd suggest checking the sensors, guessing they are 3 wire type, ie +, - & signal or are they mechanical two wires ?. Shorting them will just damage something, time to break out the multimeter and do some testing before diving into any control boxes.

Now if the council have a minimum level of accredited that's fine for them to say as they are the ones who have to explain that to the people who pay the rates. The organisation such as AA can't on the other hand go, hard luck getting work unless you're with us. From my experience of working for many councils, you just need to fill in a supplier application to get onto their list of council approved businesses. When a job comes up they ask those on the list.

No Yell is a phone directory plain an simple, it's not a list of "accredited" or checked people which can include Dave and his white van. You said if you're not AA you won't even get to find out, which makes it a cartel, club or however you wish to name exclusive club.

Maybe the Chinese are just messing with the Americans. If you know your weather balloons/spy stuff is going to be shot down. I'd be sending up any old balloons, as we've just had Chinese new year, the next one will be a dragon and whatever animal is this year's calendar choice of delicacy.

They're too busy chasing the next issue to actually think or even acknowledge people have a differing viewpoint. Take the prison thing, it's hardly a stretch of the imagination to say men and women only, but if you have transitioned fully as a women you can. No member = very little risk.
