  4. Just remember legally you can't manage their sickness but you can manage (& monitor) their absences. Sounds daft I know but I used to manage upto 50 members of staff in a previous career & it can be a minefield. Think fsb offer H.R advice? Maybe Google return to work interviews & print off some forms to use & it will help to cover your arse as well. Good luck

  8. Start doing return to work interviews for any unauthorised absences for all staff, then you can bring it up then & then decide whether it's genuine or to take it as unpaid or holiday. It can help to cut down on sickies because they don't want to be accountable for their absence, unless it's genuine. Mark every absence on your calendar & you may star to see a pattern!
  9. Yeah sure if it includes a return flight to Norway?!

  20. You just need to side off the fence with hedge cutters before hand & around the rhody stems that you want to keep (!?) The real pita of this job will be getting all the leftover bits left on the fence, if that's part of the works spec? Always wondered if a jet wash would be any good for this task as it's very time consuming by hand. Good luck & don't forget before & after pics for your website (& us!)

  22. There is always access for something. Hire a tracked flail with operator , mince that in a few hours tops. Have the wrest of the week off ;-)

  25. If you feel confident & are competent at work & it's within your comfort zone to be able to work safe then go for it, what else pays the bills? Just make sure you're in a harness with a strop attached & don't go up if it's windy
