  1. That's great to read about how the whole process has gone so far.... but most important.... I have no doubt you will be having a happy Xmas. Happy new year too, Steve
  2. Apart from pest control & for sports... then it's a definite no from me. You only have to look at the damage done in the USA as an example of why we shouldn't have more guns available. cheers, Steve
  3. Yeah, that's what's happened, mostly.... really I should stop trying to get a good edge on my cheapo rubbish chisels that have been used for chiselling floorboard nails. I've just read that the stones can be flattened on a flat paving slab.... you chuck some sand on the slab, add water and rub the stone (figure of 8) for a few minutes. Maybe that'll work? cheers, steve
  4. I think you're right mate.... I'd quite like one of those Eden project bio-domes on our farm. cheers, Steve
  5. A total washout so far.
  6. I've been using a combination oil stone but it's worn unevenly - is there a way to flatten them? cheers, steve
  7. Yeah, the Witherby one feels very nice - feels like it's half way between a firmer chisel and a paring chisel.... but I won't be wacking the hell out of it, which is why I got the 1" firmer. I need to sort out my sharpening setup. Can't afford the diamond stones so it's gonna have to be various grades of sandpaper. Any top tips for sharpening on the cheap? cheers, Steve
  8. 1" firmer chisel by Crookes & Co (dated 1937)....
  9. I picked up a couple of used chisels off eBay.... 1 1/2" inch Witherby bevel edged:
  10. I sense technical frustrations for Mr Boulton!
  11. Dammit - it's such a horrible gut wrenching feeling when you find out you've been robbed. Very sad that such a small % of people give so much negativity to life. Best wishes & try to put it at the back of your mind before Xmas.... cheers, Steve
  12. Reversing the colours would be a start.... ie, by making the orange bits black and the black bits orange. Cheers, steve
  13. Yep, those corporate lobbyists know there's always a price.... swimming pool, trip to Antigua, etc.
  14. You hit the froe on the head there mate!.... the way it's all so neatly presented and setup to be easy to donate makes me queasy. Yay to planting more trees.... but the current #ashdieback message makes me wanna cheers, steve
  15. Do you have a less day glow version of the same jacket? cheers, Steve
  16. Hey let's not forget our massive tidal energy resource..... mixed renewables is where it's at..... down with those dirty, pesky, self interested, fossil fuel & pesticide driven MP's
  17. Trouble is some of the underground aquifers run for hundreds of miles so contamination in a completely different part of the country could affect a very wide area. Cheers, steve
  18. Haha! Fail!
  19. I think you're right there. Maybe that's what our elite government wants?.... and that reminds me of that Young Ones University Challenge sketch.... "Rah, rah, rah, we're going to smash the oinks!...." cheers, steve
  20. We are in Pembrokeshire National Park and our farm sits on shale. I wrote to our Tory MP about Fracking before the general election.... he is of the opinion that fracking is okay, he's also done nothing to stop our hospital services being taken away. The way it's going I foresee alot of the general public receiving criminal convictions for criminal damage to oil drilling equipment. They ain't listening mate. cheers, steve
  21. As far as I can gather the variety gene pool of Ash is much wider than Elm; so it's a very different beast. To me, it's far too little and far too late.... it's like peeing into these regular gale force winds we keep getting! Cheers, steve
  22. Here follows practical steps (as suggested by The Woodland Trust dieback campaign) that can be taken to prevent the spread of ash die back.... http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/tree-diseases-and-pests/what-we-are-doing/biosecurity/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=wt_treedisease_bd_december2015 I just hope the 65 million UK residents, especially the 24% of UK households that own a dog, and 35 million registered UK car drivers have read this. Cheers, steve
  23. If you're looking at a tin roof check out the secret fix 'vieo' system by Euroclad.... you should be able to download various technical drawings, u value ratings, etc which may help you to finalise drawing dimensions. Vieo Metal Roof and Wall System Alternatively, look at the proper zinc roofing (much more expensive) by e.g, VM Zinc... VMZinc cheers, steve
  24. Yeah, I've been watching Guy Martin as well. good shout. cheers, Steve
