    Camps

Well I had an argument earlier and logging camps were brought up etc etc. To set the record straight there Logging camps are from the bygone age. They exist only now in books and the memories of the old timers. The days of the big Company has gone. Yes Weyerhaeuser is still massive as are a few others but they contract out now to gypo's on contract. It cut throat and the glory days are gone. My late Grandfather logged from a camp in OR but that was long ago now. I go on the road but that just me guess I'm what years ago would be called a tramp logger No replies to this necessary lol just setting the record straight. Oh they do camp in Alaska and some places in Canada but not now (that I know of) in the lower 48
  3. K&H are what we use mostly I have used hard heads with a steel shank but K&H are better You can buy direct from K&H distributing, they are in OR. Bailey's are good but they won't send ya a catalog if you guys want oneI'll get ya one
  4. Sorry for hijacking the thread Mr boar man (I think my high school french translation is right), sir google is a wonderful thing .........If you seem to think there are big logging camps left in the lower 48 then well I don't think so........If ya been reading books bought from Amazon then cool but they kinda finished 60's maybe a bit later but there ain't none big time now. Most of the work is done by gypo loggers contracted by the big companies so if your gonna open your mouth with accusations that way at least get ya facts right. Elm well that was my experience of the type we had there was no need to be rude and then start saying things that aren't true. I'd guess cause your the big cahonies round here you and your friends will get me booted unless they do as I asked and delete me but before I'd use google to find out what a dork is lol To any and all friends and folks I've talked to on here be safe keep cutting and thanks.
  5. I get ya bro .......I took it that it was down not standing ..........Maybe we have diff elm over the pond Oh and this is for the MOD you wanna diss me buddy then come cut with me as I'll smoke your butt by lunch if not before .......now ya can ban delete or do as ya want BUT DO NOT BE RUDE AND THINK YA KNOW IT ALL AS GUESS WHAT YA DON'T
  6. Logging camps .........when was the last logging camp??? your way outta date and survive lol well seem to have made it for 30 years plus but hey opinions like assholes ........everyones got one Elm your opinion there but we leave that crap lying unless the turners etc want it as it burns like mold in a grave yard ..........you have considered there are different varieties ??? thought you'd know that being an arb guy ??? as far as logging get your facts right there before ya make a real dork of ya self ok
  7. I make no claims about anything I try to give my opinion if you don't like it ignore it there no need to be rude. if someone wants to get into it with me cool do it of the board I can and will defend my ground. I don't call you things but if that makes ya happy go for it
  8. I don't read poems all I was saying was my opinion ok no more I wasn't rude but you wanna get into being like that no worries I could but haven't said things you've said are bull crap Honestly I had it in this forum sorry guys but I really think I'm way way outta place. I have cut more timber more firewood etc in 30 years than I'd care to think of but you guys go for it. Mods delete my account thanks
  9. Your not a happy chap then lol.........I'm telling ya and I know not ideal but honestly the older saws are better and tend to be tougher......I had a yak with a bro of mine and well we came to the conclusion that will the saws of this era still be around and being used 20yrs from now like the older saws are now.....Well we thought no lol
  10. We make faggots out the brash and small top wood and they burn in anything stove or open fire .....but guess we just old fashioned lol but hey waste not want not
  11. Hey bro I was typing bout carvers when ya posted lol
  12. I don't wanna put a downer on ya but elm isn't great firewood. If it's on the ground (your elm) it can soak water up like a sponge. It can be a real s o b to split it stringy and doesn't pop apart easily so hope ya got a splitter. Burning it don't give much heat in fact it can just sit there and well sit there lol. Back home no one will touch the stuff apart from the furniture guys or the wood carvers. If it in good condition maybe milling it is an option. But if it free then better than nothing sorry if ya think this rude folks here might have different opinion tho
  13. Craobh

    Whoa lol

I am a Scot lol and the states lol well least here ya got one law (ok I know scots law gotta have (Scotland) after it lol) but there we got 50 (then there the commonwealths and territories) states with differing laws then counties within states then even towns within counties and all can and frequently are different lol
  14. get a 357 then port it and it'll cut like the devil itself. If your looking for older look at the 254 a bro of mine got a few for sale rebuilt and good
  15. That they most def were bro:thumbup:
  16. From what I can remember yep I agree The 61 was never a pro saw but it was and is a good saw for firewood etc got torq etc it not a flier just a good steady saw. Husky got the front seat when they were bought out hence the orange saws tended to be pushed more but there are good jonnyreds to I just nearly always used and use husky lol I got a love for the old ones lol
  17. Grey white black and orange I think the first ones were 3.6hp the later ones 3.9hp but on that I maybe wrong lol.....They did make em before they were bought out by Electrolux lol so going back to mid seventies if I remember right
  18. I bet ya got it purring like a cat lol and in the valley's you'll here it purring when ya use it
  19. Craobh

    Whoa lol

Sorry but I have to disagree The guys I know that teach and yes 2 of them are retired but hell you pick their brains and well they'd smoke my rear end and I respect that Is it not up to you to ask the right questions??? Up to you to tell them your experience etc??? I'd also think that for insurance (I dunno over here) it not a bad idea to keep up to date and if they are govt cert then they can tell you the latest rules etc ......not heresay or some ones interpretation just how the law written I ain't gonna fight with ya but I do think your not quite right
  20. How much ya want I'd be interested bro
