  1. Anyone tried both? How do they compare? I loved the forst, very impressed! But I've been waiting ages for a demo of the timberwolf- I would prefer to stay under 750kg if it chips as well as the forst. Thanks
  2. Where you from? A lot depends on how hard you work and experience.
  3. MEWP? Mobile Elevated Working Platform aka cherry picker
  4. I thought the old type swivels with a drain had a different seal, around the wheel bearing maybe? The new type swivels TD5 and newer don't have drains do they? Not sure I'll have a look under mine later. Diff breathers- my 2 landys have different types- one is a 14mm spanner, the other a plastic elbow that pushes in. I'd like to buy a kit for each as both are a little blocked. Any one know where to buy both types in kit form?
  5. I though if you're using the one shot grease you don't drain and recharge just top up. If the swivel has a drain you use EP90?
  6. Glad she working well for you Think I use to have front tyres at 35 and rears at 50 or 55- bit bumpy when empty like that but rides better with a load in Things changed for me just after selling that, and instead of getting a nice new tranny ended up with 2 old landys! Pics to follow after they've been painted etc.
  7. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I'd love a demo of a 230 but I'm not allowed one yet haha. I also asked about visiting the factory (PMd on here) but not heard anything back. C
  8. Thanks, although I'm a bit confused. Your info leaflet doesn't say the 240 rotor weighs that, af it says that the infeed is larger than the 230. I was told they chipped about the same, same horse power, roughly the same infeed size, but had a 240 on demo and wasn't very impressed to be honest.
  9. How does the TW230 compare to the 240?
  10. so how do you upgrade from 3050kg to 3500kg on a 110? It has a Salisbury rear axle, and is 3499kg revenue weight on the V5. Do you just get a plate stamped and fit stronger shocks/springs? Or do you need anything else (rear anti roll bar?) and a vosa test? Any info would be great Thanks Charlie.
  11. How's the new landy? Did mine yesterday, fiddly job!
  12. Looking for a secondhand tipper. I've seen some nice drop sides, but is it a big job converting them to tip? Do you just add a tipping subframe/ram or is the bed unsuitable and is like starting from a chassis cab? Thanks
  13. Had another climb today so thought I'd update. Re-reduce a weeping willow. LOVE not having to isolate a branch with throw line for first ascent. Went up the 30 or so feet without too much effort- although neck elastic wasn't bringing hitch up as i would like. Got to top and swapped to a retrievable top tie- alpine butterfly with carabiner/pinto over the line I was working off with just enough tail to reach the ground plus a bit. Used a carabiner/sling as a redirect when out on a dodgy branch almost level with my anchor. Went down and did one half of the tree, then got the ascenders out and got back up nice and easy. Then used 2 or 3 natural redirects to get out the back of the tree- love that with not having to worry about friction, or retrieving the line Came down total climb inc set up was a bit under 2 hours I think, I was going nice and steady and don't think I would have been much quicker on DdRT to be honest. Nearly got top tie stuck as I'd gone round the non working bit of rope. Bad bits- VT was great but felt funny after an hour or so sometimes bit too much sometimes felt like it wanted to slip When branch walking without much weight on line, the rope wrench added a lot of friction so couldn't get more rope through without pulling hard. Biggest one- art positioner wasn't lovely to use! All in all, loved it. Recommend anyone thinking about it tries it.
  14. Thanks, I couldn't see any tethers for sale except this one- which is the honey bros tether. The day I used it I had it between the 2 parts of a pinto or small isc pully I can't remember. Thanks C
  15. Thanks for all the replies- sorry I missed that. I'm about 70-75kg I think.
  16. Looks good! Doesn't look too tricky to make. Going to use the 2xhand ascenders with footloop and panting for a while see how I get on- at least then I can know what is easier if I have something to compare to. Hope this thread is useful for anything thinking of trying SRT- do it!
  17. Seems to help it rev up a bit faster and have a bit more power. Does make it noisier and probably invalidate warranty though.
  18. Yeah thanks I should have put up a little piccy Had a play- this VT seems to grip ok. Is the rope wrench ok off to one side like that though?
  19. Hi Chris, no I wasn't! But thanks. I was using a rope wrench, with a Knut and a small pulley. It just didn't work nicely and grip when I wanted it to. Thanks Lakey- thanks but nothing like that seems to help. It just feels very 'slippy' and won't bite the rope after taking weight off it. Like the ropes are really slippy.
  20. Thanks I can see it being amazing once I get used to it! I would love something like that, but the only UK sold option right now is rope wrench? That makes sense- you think just 2 hands on 1 ascender would be better? I'm going to try and work HAAS out now, might be easier now I've had a go. I think I just took stuff up to try different things, like using a pulley to help come in from a limb walk. I didn't like that the little bit I tried, but want to try again. Sounds like minimal kit which would be nice! Can you explain how to clove hitch rope on please C
