  1. 4-5k wouldn't surprise me
  2. Not expecting spring till May at the earliest up here!!!!!!
  3. Cheers spud, It's not my machine it's one we use at work, just wondered incase he was going to bin it would it be worth taking home and attempting a repair. I bought the 630 super 2 from rich on here a couple of weeks ago, Very pleased with it, good saw. Reckon it's about 20yrs old. What's the story with it, how did you come across it? Just curious! Cheers Mull.
  4. For cutting concrete/steel etc. TS400 2 stroke.
  5. Using sthil saw today( not chainsaw). Used it 3-4 times this morning, no probs, Went to start it again it was just about solid, wouldn't pull, felt seized. Took plug out, pushed piston down dropped some oil in, repeated this and it started and ran, sounded a bit ill. Noisy. Big end? Small end? Any thoughts?
  6. ' if you want something done, ask a busy person! Makes sense to me.
  7. Also have found that cheaper nail packs sometimes have thicker paper holding nails together and jam up gun all the time......not much fun!!
  8. Can't be sure about this, but have read that although cheaper nails might not be a problem, apparently the gas does not have the adequate lubricating capacity that paslode does, not easy to argue either case without being a scientific mechanic!!! If there is such a thing.
  9. Might have been worse, he could have named you ' sue '
  10. 100% positive feedback is not as reassuring as when you're buying a set of brake pads!! Or is that just me?
  11. How can someone who was farming in 2005 be granted subsidy entitlement, then trade it for profit?! Their entitlement was based on their farming activity from previous years, so if there was little activity they got little entitlement, basically hard working farmers were subsidised to keep working hard( although this did not always happen, I.e slipper farmers) so I guess when their entitlement is sold on they pass that annual payment onto the purchaser. It's a complicated business, I'm not sure we' ll ever fully understand it!!!
  12. Your post suggests maybe you should be giving advice rather than asking for it! I was lost after 3rd line, but that's probably just me, lol.

Good advice, thanks , yeah just cutting for myself, don't come across too much big stuff, but don't want to knock the stuffing out of my saw. Think having two saws would probably be wise anyway. Cheers again for advice much appreciated.

A new bar and chain would be £40-50, so maybe a2nd hand saw might be worth thinking about.

Thanks, guess I need to upgrade then! Don't cut a lot of bigger stuff and am only cutting for my own use, big wood burner in the house, wife thinks wood grows on trees, cheers for the advice, any cheap stihls about 60cc anywhere?

I thought it was even less 48-49cc, so no chance then! What cc are you needing for 20" would you say?

Hullo folks, newbie here, using what I guess is an oldish saw, it has a 15" bar on, wondering if I could put maybe an 18" or 20" on for the bigger fallen timber that I occasionally cut up? 90% of the time 15" is fine. Cheers for any advice.
