  1. Well done mate, and you did very well Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Started in conservation work, did a lot of tree clearance, and woodland work, really enjoyed the tree work, and it was easy to earn a few quid more Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. IMO it should apply to everyone, a demo of what you know, teach a few new skills, and you're done, what it shouldn't be is an assessor reteaching what you already know, nor should it be the price it is! I work with blokes who need refreshers (IMO) but as its an advisory who the hell does it? It's down to the operator at the end of the day, can you say you know it all? Do you want to push trainers to teach new stuff, or is what you know sufficient? Between cs31/32 they only teach a handful of cuts as standard! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Tbf it happens with everything nowadays, everything is mass produced, slammed together and sent out without giving it a proper going over, we had new machinery last year at the golf club, one mower the turbo and fuel pump blew up, other mower a latch has worn loose and keeps locking the blades, the roller blew its clutch apart, sheared the bolts off the muffler, grease points have all snapped off and tank breather is faulty! The big companies shouldn't be doing this! Husky and stihl both have done it, toro, John Deere, ransomes, and half the agricultural machinery! Does nobody test the damn things nowadays? The only thing I have heard being tested properly is the T540xp, which has been doing so since 2010, and husky are really taking the piss with that! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Our commercial woods are mostly softwood, mostly a mix of larch, scots and Corsican round here Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. That's a lovely weld there, I would say cut it at an angle, make it look better Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Wonder if this will have anything to do with the NPTC's new power of revoking certificates? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Just buy a 365 with a 24/28" bar and semi chisel chain, it'll cut through the softwood butt quick enough, if it doesn't, buy an 8 tooth 3/8 rim sprocket for the saw, not much more advice can be offered without suggesting you spend loads of money on a pro saw, oh and IF the 365 still isn't powerful enough, but the muffler for a 390xp, fit it to the 365 and have it retuned Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. No, Jon, I ignored the manual and min works fine Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. No, doing it wrong appears to be the way to make it work, I've done all the set-up stuff wrong it appears, mine fires first pull once warm without messing with the knob, primer or decomp valve Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. The training is useful, there's usually some bit you didn't already know, if you're willing to travel to Staffordshire I recommend Ianmorganarb, he tends to teach you to do it a cheaper way, rather than all the fancy trinkets, so even if some of your gear got damaged, you can bodge it and finish the job... And most importantly get paid Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. You still thinking about getting a 560 then Jon? I actually read the manual tonight, apparently I've been doing a lot wrong?! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Still wouldn't match the speed of a ported husky, rich Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. 365 is listed as semi pro here, just run it on what ever bar, the bigger they are the longer it'll take to cut PNW saws don't bother me, 385 was my first toy, still like to play with it now, but I do fancy a bigger one! 2100, 3120, 880 and 090 all look good fun! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. is there even a translator good enough for that? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. It has a D009 bar fitting, the large husky bars, like a 372 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. I don't bother with the manual, I just rev mine till it stops dying, it revs, drop, revs again and drops and so on, I just give it full throttle till it stops, then I find mine is fine Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Out of interest, how do you set your autotune? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Make the most of it, staffs weather is usually cold n wet Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. We fix our blower stop switch yearly! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Which saw? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Right, who's your assessor? And things to remember are: bats! Bs3998, tpo's, birds nests (quite important right now), LEADCANS, PPE- specifically the chainsaw symbol, where you can find info on the saw (operator manual, chain box), and your cuts, and the stuff about hangers Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Don't knock them there km56's, they've more power than you think, you want a pole cutter with an adjustable head, don't get a fixed one, and my experiences of stihl and husky are they are much of the same, so if you want speed, husky, if you have some thicker bits to cut, stihl Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Jonsered 2153 is a 346, and 2156 is a 357, and most things are running better than your 560 tbf Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. 240 was a good little saw, 14" bar, and if you want the 346/357 huskys buy j'red Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
