  1. Hi all, As per title looking to ensure a forwarder any suggestions on descent insurer that don't mug you off over cost and pay outs? Cheers nick
  2. Hi all, I have both the above saws and are both very impressive but anyone ported either of them or see any benefits of porting them?
  3. Found a komatsu 840tx in the uk bit over budget but everything else is rare as rocking horse sh**! Any ideas on the quality?
  4. Have to be moving some serious firewood to make that pay. Maybe when I upgrade to another machine wf will be the one!
  5. Ac price found me this today but still over my price tag.
  6. That was a kesla electric control with a 2008 t151 valtra and 10t driven trailer and a winch. Knock off the driven gear and winch at its still best part of 90k+vat. Still waiting for Kronos price! That's the 6x6 model complete with timber bunk winch and clum bunk grapple! Its amazing kit if I could find a used one of these I would be happy but there nowhere to be found.
  7. I've used an old mb trac with Werner conversion twin drum winches. It's the best winch ever built especially when used with the remote! Been quoted over 100k for tractor and set up which isn't the issue it's just not purpose built for the job in hand. Could get a sensible forwarder and the above mentioned mb trac in good condition for approx same price. Both of which are built for there required jobs! Too much choice out there that's the problem.
  8. Been offered a rottne rapid f12 2003 relatively low hours 54k +vat! Are these any good? Haven't seen many around. Ideal machine is the wf trac 6x6 front mounted winches with timber crane and trailer but at 250k think its a little much.
  9. Hopefully the pic of the kesla 500 roof mount has worked.
  10. Are the powered trailers worth the extra money as my budget can move if it will make it make a positive difference. 10k drag trailer and approx 22k powered.
  11. Will be contacting ac price tomorrow for a price from them. Was looking at 140-150 bhp valtra around 2007 year if that's man enough. That's a nice price of kit
  12. Yeah Jim Caledonian forestry saying its a roof mount Kesla 500 crane think is electro hydraulic control unit. Just waiting for a full spec from them.
  13. Looking at a kesla roof mount crane with separate 10-12ton trailer! Anyone had or got one? Are the worth the 35k for crane and guarding which is 10+ more than the botex? It is for forestry manly firewood stuff.
  14. I was thinking of igland electro hydraulic twin drum 3point linkage remote winch so can be removed with relative ease as there is quite a lot of smallish valleys here with good wood on them that need thinning. Hence the winch. Then cross cut ready to haul out. That's a good setup you found.
  15. This is my problem go purpose built and its heavy duty does exactly what it's ment to or go the other route and have a versatile machine I can use on road and for diff applications like winching firewood processing etc. budget approx 80k+vat for the right machine.
  16. Anyone had anything to do with these Kotschenreuther 125 (6620John Deere) - Forestry tractors, Price: £51,546, Year of manufacture: 2003 - Mascus UK
  17. Was looking at purpose built but that would limit its use age looking at going agri built from Germany or similar. Kotschenreuther 125 (6620John Deere) - Forestry tractors, Price: £51,546, Year of manufacture: 2003 - Mascus UK
  18. As per title I'm looking at getting forwarder so need a good place for training and assessments in East Sussex. Any ideas? Thanks
  19. Have just secured long term cutting works so need an experienced hand cutter for felling works. Sites are based around sussex and Kent border. Starting ASAP. 07595290954. Thanks nick.
  20. Hi all, I'm looking at investing into a purpose built machine with around 10 ton load. Is there a lot of difference in say ponnse valmet/komatsu and John Deere machines? Are the slightly bigger 12-13 ton machines better value etc?
  21. We didn't cut bars as I said we cut it for shavings! Was just giving the prices I was told for roadside!
  22. Hi, We recently done some scots pine and that went for shavings to Euroforest. We got payed 11 a ton to cut. I know chip has been going for 18 at roadside and I pretty sure bars are around the 18.50 mark shavings were around 22 I think but really depends on what market they go to. If you need any extra saws let me know I'm in ringmer near lewes and always looking for hand work and around sussex. Hope that helped.
  23. Hi Treebus, When I've been payed by the m3 stack measurement it's been lenghtxwidthxheight x .55. That's was on beech thinnings and ash clear fell if that helps.
