1. Sounds like fun, haha. Will be well worth it when you breeze through customs!
2. Nice one, I've just bought a ZigZag and was wondering which rope would work best, reckon I will give Yale BT a go! Great colour too!
3. Yes Mark, biggest tree yet, easily around 100ft. Not often you get the chance to do one of these!
4. I did this same course when it first started at Otley in September 2012, Great course to get your foot in the door with an employer, I would recommend it, it gave me a good starting point. I noticed that the price has more than tripled if you are over 24, that would have put me off. But I guess that must be in-line with what the other course providers charge. Think I got lucky as it was the first time they had run the course.
5. Yes Kev no turning back now, all booked, the never ending winter continues!
6. Haha, yeah I work for him. The Norwegians love staring at his beard.
7. Well I've not spent much time in Oslo, but know It's a better climate than Bergen. Plenty of Skiing and girls there too. Accom provided is a great deal, I have the same, makes it easier to save money, I'm also ex Army (Rifles) What's the name of the company? You can probably find some info and people who have worked for them on here.
8. Where is the job based? I've been in Norway for 6 months (Bergen) and If you like rain then Bergen is perfect, it's a great place to live, lots of lovely big spruce trees to cut down. At weekends I either go skiing or chasing Norweigen girls, two of my favourite sports. No visa required for EU residents. Everything is expensive, 6 pack of beer = £15+, ouch. Weekly food shop for 2 blokes = £120+. But wages are good, The tax man likes to take a lot of it though. Plenty of pros and cons. Worth a go.
9. Yeah I saw that, sounds great. If I wasn't already set on Australia I'd be all over that. I agree, let's see some pics.
10. Hi all. I am flying to Perth in May, WH Visa and Flight already sorted. No other solid plans really, I figure it's best to just get out there and look for work. I'm 27 and I've been climbing full time for 1.5 years (come may) Quals: CS 30,31,38,39, L3 Diploma Arboriculture and HGV C+E licence. I have already worked in Argentina and Norway so I'm no stranger to working abroad. Also I've already done the obvious google search for tree companys in WA and sent some emails out so no need to make that suggestion thanks. This post is to hopefully get some useful advice from people who have already worked in Australia or are there now, so anything you think will be helpful please share. Cheers, Allan
11. Best of luck to you Mike! Ignore the negative comments, everyones experience is different. I'm heading out in April, and I've also never been.
12. Hi, I'm heading out to brisbane in April/May, So let us know how it goes when you get out there!
13.
I don't, but keep an eye on the employment thread, there is usually plenty on there if you are flexible enough. Good luck!

14. The photo with the Chinook, is that FOB Wishtan?
15. It is an impressive tree, earlier this year it dropped a massive limb landing just between the main house and the sheds, 10 mins after they moved the car, bloody lucky!
16. That looks like a union flag, you working at the embassy there?
17. Let's see some photos from all the well travelled tree workers. Post photos from the different countries you have worked in
18. Damn, you have to start at 16 to become a 'true arborist' ? what does one of them do? do you have special powers?
19. If you play it safe and stay in the UK then you will never know! Best not to listen to stories about cost of living and just see for yourself, it can be high but it's not as bad as some stories I've read on here. 36% of your wage goes to the tax man, that's a true story.
