  1. Lesson learned, I'm sticking with the Army Goretex in future
  2. They must have sent me a special edition holy jacket
  3. The first time I used this jacket was in fairly heavy rain and after an hour or so I was soaked to the point I was wringing out my t-shirt, I wore it for the second time today in light rain and again i was soaked after a couple of hours. You would expect more from an all weather water resistant jacket. If you want a jacket that will keep you dry, avoid this one!
  4. Working in Argentina recently and we passed some locals who were trying to dig out a stump, Diego used the big yellow beast to give them a hand. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUay2bISpOU]Stump removal Argentina style - YouTube[/ame]
  5. Hi Tim, I'm also ex Army (2 Rifles) I did the 10 week Arb/forestry course at Otley College in Suffolk, funded with ELC because it included a level 3 subsidiary diploma. Good course to get the basics that most employers look for with CS 30,31,38,39 all included. The hardest part for me was finding an employer that would give me the opportunity to climb. I started off with a large company supposedly as a trainee climber but spent most of my time feeding the chipper because they had no time for training a newbie. I'm not saying all large companies are the same, just my personal experience. I'm in a 3 man team now and getting plenty of experience in the trees. Good luck with it pal the opportunity is definitely there. Allan
  6. I'm working in Argentina at the moment, not sure how long I'm staying for but very keen to come and work in Australia when I move on from here!
  7. Served 4.5 years with 1 RGJ / 2 Rifles. Got out in 2010, just getting started in arb now.
  8. Originally I said I wanted work near Mansfield but since I'm not having a great deal of luck with that I will go anywhere so long as I can find accommodation near by that doesn't cost a bomb Cheers Allan
  9. I think I just found my favourite thread! Some great photos, thanks for sharing! When I get one of my own pics will follow
  10. Cheers Dave, sounds interesting, I will give you a call tomorrow!
  11. I have just completed a 10 week arb course and have tickets 30,31,38,39 & C+E driving licence. I served 4.5 years in the Army and then did some travelling prior to this. I'm looking for full time work in or around Mansfield, to start asap. I'm happy to work trial days. If I haven't got anything by the new year I will be happy to relocate. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. Cheers, Allan
  12. Hi Steve, I'm new to arbtalk and recently started the 10 week tree surgeon course at Otley College. I'm keen to get as much experience as possible so I would like to get some work experience in at the weekends. Do you know anyone that could help me out and if so could you point me in the right direction?

    Cheers

    Allan
