    Can I ask if your running the 1/4 pitch chain and bar? As far to many folk don't know the correct tension for the solid nose bar that is provided. It's not a slant on you, just saying. When you say it runs rough. In what way? If it's warranty, you've got two year's with there professional cover

    Make sure the blades are freshly sharpened to get the bulk of it then go along it with secateurs/loppers to neaten up. I find the Stihl T blades better on Laurel

    I think the harvester/forwarder demo's are back on this year. Also don't be so soft, you're supposed to northern!

    I used a Marlow Viper e2e on Tachyon, think it was around 70mm using either Distel, VT or Knut. With Tachyon being 11.7mm it is more suited to the 8mm cord and will give a better bight on the rope

    If your looking at battery HL range get the HLA 135.Yes it's not telescopic but has a solid drive shaft and the motor is at the back away from the abuse of cutting. Unlike the HLA 66/86

    My daughter just did a week work experience. It sounded like she spent the week on the doss! I did two weeks at school as a kayak and rock climbing instructor. Spent the fortnight playing on the river and scaling some rock faces. Got a job out of it till I started on the tree course.

    Speak to the dealer or Outwear. I put a warranty claim in for a customer after 7 months and they repaired them free of charge. Some companies like Meindl only give 3 months at best

    My workmates son has taken an interest in tree work. He's been doing a bit over the past year and half. He's just going into his last year of school. Got part time work with a local firm, and he's investing money in climbing kit. I've taken him for rec climbs and tried to simulate work positions etc. Only problem is he wants to climb srt all the time and doesn't want to the basics.

    It seems our district rep lied or was misinformed. I was told it was only going to be up to the AK range of tools, but selected AP machines and batteries are on their site aswell

    We'll try, but it won't make any difference as Screwfix are a dam sight bigger than us

    I know it's just domestic stuff, but we have something written into our Contract with Stihl that there won't be another seller/dealership within a set distance. The nearest Screwfix is a 5 minute walk from work! We get a lot of domestic customers and I think it's going to change. Granted there's not a great deal made on the battery stuff, but it's still a kick in the teeth for a dealer of 45 years!

    Chris is brilliant. He recently trained me to do it. Otherwise there's Sean and Woody at Honey Brothers that do it. Also trained by Chris Cooper-Abbs

    If you are willing to head to Nottingham, see what Dan at MediArb training can do. He's in Warwickshire and will be able to put you on to someone for UA training as I don't think he does that.

    Just been having a look at our suppliers, and Mont-Bell are a newcomer to the market in the uk. They do some that weigh 967g which is lighter than most I've found

    As Mark has said take advantage if you can. Rrp is £240 +vat for a 300s battery. It's a great deal tbh. As he said support your local dealer.

    He could try a set of the Arbortec deep forest. They are a bit more robust than the b/flex pro. Also have a look at the Stihl X-Light they feel very light and good value for money

    The stihl 170/171/180/181 and 211 have now been discontinued. I've tried the new 182 and 212. I will say I wouldn't of recommended a 16" bar on a 181, but the 182 handles a 16 well
