  1. So I've been looking around for new insurance as my renewal is approaching, today NFU called me back and told me they don't insure arb companies because of working at height? Anyone else had this? As aside note is there any recommendations for arb insurance you feel is reasonable? I'm currently with arborisk.
  2. Surveying software is very very cool, take Bubba from forest gump and replace shrimp with surveying software in conversation and you've got me.
  3. Is this company now financially secure enough to use this product or will they fold in 12 months? Any advice welcomed[emoji1360].
  4. There are two main ways I use to flush the scammers out their rat holes. A: all their adverts have an obscure email you must contact them through, this email runs through a secondary server so you can't trace their IP address. B: ask to pay in cash on pickup, they'll always stop replying or say no with some obscure excuse. I often tell them I'm literally next door to whatever address they've put up to test them.
  5. They are a scam, they send you a false eBay buy it now page which you then buy through losing the money and never receiving your goods.
  6. This isn't a big job, access will dictate the price. As for the milling there really isn't much timber there in my opinion.
  7. I did the same thing and they wouldn't give it to me, they said it was a special vehicle? It is a truck mount, I'm going to phone them again tomorrow, they pulling the wool over my eyes here.
  8. I called them today and they won't insure my platform unless I insure my entire business with them, well my business is insured with Arborisk so I'm a bit stumped really.
  9. Interested to find out who you have your lorries insured with?
  10. Zigzag for me, there's a review on here regarding the spider jack which I thought was accurate. It described the clutch handle sticking out and being hit by debris causing you to drop. Zigzag treated me well, I've never used the sj3 but wouldn't mind a go.
  11. Ok ok, I'll hold my hands up. I once tried it in university.......BUT I never inhaled
  12. Merrist wood, there were a bunch of us there from different regiments.
  13. I suspect you are talking about marijuana, the gate way drug, the devils pot plant, the destroyer of families, the cause of everything bad in our society? It is something I've never seen, touched, eaten nor smoked, scouts honour! It was about £80 to £100 quid an ounce depending on quality...............so I heard.
  14. Sorry Alex, I didn't see this. I'll post a few firms I thought looked good, I won't post the ones which seemed meat factory like.
  15. Thank Bob, I'm looking at one currently. David from steel viper is finding out about parts.
  16. Bought a practically brand new 2015 BR550 for 300 squid off eBay from a chap in Chelsea. He needed a blower to get rid of those pesky leaves in his garden every autumn, being a man who only buys the best he thought he'd go stihl industrial and called up his local dealer for next day delivery. On receiving his new prized leaf slayer he strapped himself up for his first mission and got the missus to pull start his new weapon of choice from behind, with finger on the trigger and at full throttle our loafer wearing friend turned into the best dressed Cathrine wheel the neighbourhood had ever seen. Cue six hours later and it was on eBay being added to the shopping basket of yours truly for a steal.
  17. I agree, the forst is a terrible machine, a poor excuse for a chipper made for people who want to tow something shapely and shiny. If I were you I'd get rid of it immediately, don't even bother trying to sell it just give it away! I'll help you get rid of it, just pm me your address and I'll pick it up for you.
  18. Can you post a photo so we can see the trees, their size etc just for interest sake.
  19. [emoji1360][emoji1] excellent!
  20. Thanks Fred, I'll do that.
  21. The one on its last legs doesn't happen to be in wales does it?
  22. The pay doesn't vary much unless you're with a large firm and you work as a dedicated climber, but on this trees it takes a toll on the body so being a groundy can be very welcome. If you're on 30 to 35 you'll be ok combined with your wife's salary. Make sure you find a firm who gives breaks and works a normal 50 hour week. I couldn't recommend going out there more if you have a family, it will be the best decision for your kids. It's a great way of life for them and for you.
  23. 65k is really not a good salary there, it's not a salary that will take you very far after food, rent and fuel. Coffee barristers make an average of 63k over there just to put it in perspective. Like I said, if you are 21 then that salary must seem amazing, if you're in your thirties and have need of a few more comforts than just a van and a bag of weed then anything less than 2000 dollars a week is going to be tough going. Your first food shop from coles (Aussie Tesco) will be a bit of a shock, with your wife's salary you should be a bit more comfortable however. I went over thinking 65k initial offer was a good deal, only to realise once I'd payed an extortionate leccy and food bill I was scraping through. Meats reasonable considering but fruit is a bit pricy considering it's a hot country. There's a reason they live off veggiemite im sure of it. A case of coopers (a bit like carling) is $60 roughly, maybe more now. As for the critters, it all seemed over exaggerated if I'm honest. Huntsman are big and horrible looking but that's about it, nothing to fear. I saw them daily but never had an issue. I apologise if i come across like a damp rag but I'm just giving you the no frills information, information I wish I'd received before I went over. If I had been told that 65k is not the same as it is here I would have looked for a better company before going over. Make sure you get over 30 dollars an hour in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. They'll try starting you on 25 to 28 with the promise of a rise based on skills, say no, I promise you you'll thank me from a tropical beach one day.
