  1. Hi Paul Yes, it's reactive growth in response to the the decay internally. I noted on the report that there is some slight signs consistant with fibre buckling on the lower trunk . There are no signs of any recent reactive growth, with no lighter bark indication. Alot of the leaves are smaller than usual, so I would say the the vitality of the tree is low, so it's not able to produce any current reactive growth. I have attached a photo from Mathecks VTA book to show the development of buttressing in association with decay
  2. This morning I found this on a sycamore. Obvious advanced in the the trunk base caused by Ganoderma. The tree has reacted accordingly

  5. I've seen alot of bands over the years including the stones, dire straights, Eric clapton U2, black sabbath, rush, The best as follows Motorhead 80 Queen 86, Muse about 05, Genesis 81 Whitney Houston 88ish . Pink Floyd 88 was the best

  9. Im working alot in Staffordshire atm. Alot of Holly trees are suffering. I suspect it was last summers drought. I hope the current drought ends soon. Whats your experience elsewhere.
  10. They look like lawsons cypress. I think they could be reduced by a few meters and you won't have to touch them for 10 yrs. If they were leyland cypress , that would be different
  11. I can't see why there would be a tpo on such trees.
  12. The conifer hedge will close more, from side growth, but not completely i think, and it will take some time
