  1. Anyone got any knowledge of 110 utility SW HMRC tax / road fund licence status? It seems ludicrous that a 110 is classed as PLG and a 90 would be classed as light commercial. If I understand correctly, 110 utility SW pre 2009 are PLG, post 2009 are light commercial meaning they can be claimed as capital expenditure on tax return and have a considerably lower road fund licence cost.
  2. Would it be viable to mail the parts? Mate here in Cornwall could do it for you.
  3. Would it be indiscreet to ask what you accepted? Understand if you'd rather not say.
  4. 2 of the 3 recent prosecutions are for council operations.... Interesting!
  5. Great pics! makes me want to mill more! I only do the occasional bit
  6. Prune yearly in early Spring after the possibility of hard frost. My words having read the guidance in RHS Pruning & Training The Definitive Practical Guide to Pruning Trees, Shrubs and Climbers but not wishing to fall foul of their copyright!
  7. Liking your angle there.... (pun intended!) I should have said, the 6" nail thing, it's just what I do to practice banging nails in straight, it's just that sometimes I forget to clear up the boards after practice.....!
  8. 6" nails through boards (points upper most) scattered around in the sheds, if they come at night difficult to see, combined with the blank firing tripwires, you can get pretty Indiana Jones on their ass! Just remember where they are!!
  9. BRILLIANT! Christmas is coming, times are hard, recycling is king, brilliant use of boxes and the old saying "they played with the box more than the contents" is about to come true! Wife is terrified all my contributions to the pressie pile will be homemade & recycled! Ha, ha, that's me done Christmas shopping, off to the pub!
  10. Don't fall out guys, it's not worth it! It happens sometimes, and I have certainly fallen foul of it myself on subjects I've been passionate about. It's a great pic and thanks for sharing. The guy is just saying you "could" get caught out by copyright, and good on him for mentioning that. Is it an unintended consequence of forum etiquette that people feel obliged to respond to every comment even if they don't agree or worse think its BS? Not 100% sure I should have bothered typing this but hey, it's a discussion forum if anyone disagrees I don't have to reply! ):0)
  11. Cool as! It's a fantastic pic!
  12. What's the pics origin? Is it a photoshop job?? Just thinking you'd never advance the flip line up the tree?
  13. I'll be in a similar boat in 4 years when wifey finishes her current contract! If it goes well, it'll be brilliant, if it goes badly...... Who knows what chaos could ensue! be interesting to see how you get on! Good luck
  14. Good on you fella! It pisses me off when you see "so called" graduates being interviewed about employment prospects and they think they're too qualified for "that type of work." If they've loafed off work at uni for years avoiding paying tax and dicking around on some meaningless course it's time to get a job, any job!
  15. David, a long shot maybe, my friend / neighbour is a first class fabricator and could make you some classic / original tree guards worthy of these vet trees. He's just set up on his own and would jump at the chance of such an artisan / prestigious opportunity. I'd pretty much guarantee he could compete on price too (even with shipping) A rough sketch or phone call to discuss requirement all he'd need and boom, you'd have craftsman, British made quality product and be supporting a rural micro business! Or, there's always the Chinese, imported rubbish made from dismantled Royal Navy warships, made by peasants in dreadful conditions and paid peanuts! Good thread!
  16. I'm out Liskeard way, sometimes looking for chip / wood off load sites out your way. I'll keep you posted if I have a job out that area. Kev
  17. Ah, nice one! I couldn't figure why so long but makes sense!
  18. How can there be any juices if it's had 4hrs cooking?? How big is a chicken that needs 4hrs cooking, it must be a 25 pounder Chernobyl special!
  19. "If a tree (thief, dies screaming crushed under the timber he's attempting to steal) falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
  20. And the best! Why do it if you can't treat yourself to an impulse buy once in a while! I'm a sucker for it!
  21. Good luck with that defence in law....
