Brilliant! How could I have expected anything else 😂 Whoever made that has more free time for kicking around than even I do 😂

Note to self..... Don't borrow, lend or undertake to do some work for Alec..... A lot of his associates seem to fall off their perch! (just intended as a light hearted angle - hope not inappropriate 😖)

A difficult situation. In your shoes I’d be inclined to instruct a solicitor to deal with it. Costly but keeps a respectful degree of separation.

Retaining trees in (damaged) hard surfaces
kevinjohnsonmbe replied to arbgirl92's topic in Trees and the Law
Yes, very common in Helston, Truro and many other places. Just snapped a few from tinterweb but well remembered as a hazard when bowling out of the pub! Totally agree the more serious bit - if it walks, talks, looks like something someone might walk on - they probably will.... -
That kind of sounds like a misuse of a valuation system in a sense (appreciate there is probably much more to the story than the brief insight here) Does the "value" of a tree (however calculated) change the ability / validity / authority of a 3rd party to try and compel the owner of something to do something they might be disinclined to do?

Can you tell us which town this is? I wonder if it is the one I’m thinking of - if so (and I think probably not) there shouldn’t be a problem resolving this. (That’s why I think it probably isn’t the town I’m thinking of.) Take the tarmac away, make it look like a open soil area and maybe the dog shite will discourage casual pedestrians? Its a non-sense to seek to make all areas flat, smooth and accessible. There are many areas of great historic, cultural and aesthetic value (certainly in Cornwall) which are distinctly non-compliant with current disability and accessibility legislation - long may it remain so! -
Have the definitive regulations regarding firewood?

Isn’t there also a “pay as you go” requirement? You have to certify your sales qtys and there is a charge applied by the ton? Thats how BSL accreditation charging works. Don’t really matter either way - I’m out too! -

Same in Morrison’s (wish I’d got a pic) a box of 7 or 8 9” split birch at about 6”dia for £7! Terrified me trying to work out how much a days heating would cost at those rates! -

Totally agree with the 2 John’s above! This was all plain to see when the (so-called) BSL “advisory board was comprised of all the bigger industry players. They can all foxtrot oscar - no more subscription fees to pay their over inflated salaries and all the shiny asses will soon desert the organisation too..., -

Domestic was originally intended to be equipment life cycle but, after the solar PV shambles and the many delays following the commercial RHI roll out cock up (from memory Jan 2011?) domestic RHI was eventually set at 7 years only and wasn’t rolled out until 2014ish (again - only from memory) which makes the early starters very close to end of RHI. Can’t remember exact dates but I know it’s not far off for me. Will look it up tomorrow and check. It’s been worth it overall though. -
Have the definitive regulations regarding firewood?

Yeah, pellets are tricky and I recall watching quite a few med-large plants go up in flames (literally!) The few remaining volume producers pretty much cornered the market which was all going well (for them) until one of the few plants (somewhere in Wales if I recall) got flooded a few years back. It accounted for about a ⅓ of UK production if I recall. Phone was ringing off the hook when Mole Valley rAn out 😂 -

Mine arrived today too. What a complete crock o shite! Blatantly another scam - another accreditation which of course, has to be paid for. Extortion by any other name. For the first time ever I was late with the BSL return for Q4 21 and literally only did it yesterday - feel really pissed off now. If this letter had arrived yesterday I wouldn’t have bothered with the Q4 return & payment. Time to bin it off completely - that’s a measure of a truly misguided legislation, more people go off the reservation than comply. Brilliant, well done, crock o shite! -

This afternoon's little teaser... Using local phone numbers and seeking to give the impression of being from the LA. Calling from a Looe number 01503 635006…. Or so you’d think! Purporting to be compiling an updated “building regs handbook” - odd I thought… Why phone me? Are you Cornwall council? No… What are you then? What is your business name and what is the nature of your business? We’re contacting planning agents and tree surgeons to see if they want a full, ½ or ⅓ page advert in our updated “building regs handbook.” What is a “building regs handbook” and why do you think I’d have any interest in it? Lots of tree surgeons are reporting great success from being listed in our handbooks…. So you are selling advertising then? Whats your conversion rate? I don’t really have that info… Why are you phoning me? We’re looking at any agents that have planning applications. So you’re trawling the LA planning pages and harvesting business contact details in an attempt to sell advertising and then sending your so-called “hand book” as unsolicited mail to planning applicants? Er, yes. Well what use would it be to me if the TPO or s211 application is already submitted and validated? I don’t really understand what you mean - you’d get more business. You’re an idiot. Where are you PHYSICALLY calling from? What is your ACTUAL location? I’m working from home covering SE Cornwall. Where are you PHYSICALLY calling from? What is your ACTUAL location? I’m in Couch End London. This is a scam masquerading as something it isn’t in order to sell advertising. Remove my number from your data base and don’t call me again!

It’s a bollox idea and likely the thin end of a wedge that pisses all over the judicial system. The reason magistrates have capped sentencing powers is that they deal with the trivial. A serious offence, with serious sentencing potential, requires the guilty bastard to be afforded a trial before 12 of his peers. That is a privilege and a right bestowed upon all citizens.

Any one seen these yet? Looks interesting but price appears to be pretty sharp. Would be interesting to see it in action.

No DinoOff? Outrageous! Whilst apparently missing from the various reported press releases, I’m sure I read in a MTOA link that Staffs had no tree officer and the obvious (apparently) link was inferred: No TO = trees fall over and kill people... What’s green and sleeps 4.....? A Glendale crew cab tipper transit 😂 On a more serious note - are work / business models in need of a fundamental change? It is widely acknowledged that those at the more motivated end of the spectrum will naturally gravitate towards self enrichment through self employment - this seems to be a common and recurring theme amongst employment / business discussion threads here. And why not - flexibility, reward in relation to effort, satisfaction etc, etc... Whilst established structural business, corporate and institutional models may offer career path progression, they are invariably cumbersome, glacial and incremental and rarely, truly, reflect effort and facilitate rapid advancement. It’s a ‘different’ worker today as compared to yesteryear (wild generalisation warning) and perhaps a different employment model is required? One possible option could be to increase the outsourcing of suitable tasks to stand alone self employed or SME outfits and reduce corporate liabilities? Obviously this has + & - implications. Not least of which you’d still have to ‘attract’ SMEs into even wanting to sub contract and the word on the streets is that low rates and slow payments aren’t making Glendale an attractive option under current circumstances. I guess there will always be that simple bottom line - low rates & slow payments are not going to generate superstar performance.

Hadn’t thought of it that way since I don’t sell but can certainly see where yome coming from! Just as well burn it on site rather than shift it just for shifting it sake. The law of unintended consequence.... -
Happy birthday Mr C! Many happy regards. 👍🏻👍🏻

‘king legendary! “.... This is a farcical and alarming situation....” Even more legendary, the cnts that examined my books - HMCTS after I took HMRC to tribunal - are themselves apparently in the hole for inappropriate tax affairs.... Ive ½ a mind to write to the dickhead judge that wouldn’t allow my appeal to the higher tier tribunal after I’d tucked HMRC up at the first tier. “...Another UK government limb that can't get IR35 right: Court service pays taxman £12.5m...” Another UK government limb that can't get IR35 right: Court service pays taxman £12.5m • The Register WWW.THEREGISTER.COM HMRC's 'fundamentally flawed' Check Employment Status Tool strikes again

Dropped kerb planning rejected due to RPA

This response just highlights a lack of understanding of why and what a CA represents and how one (properly) manages tree(s) within one.
