  1. Was it a class issue or rather a gender issue Mr E? Whatever, it didn’t paint the Trades Union leadership in a very good light. Anyway, that’s irrelevant at the moment... She’s now got it into her head that blokes shouldn’t be out boozing, sleeping around and giving the Mrs an occasional whack.... See what happens when you don’t keep ‘em busy - they go watching TV movies and getting all sorts of crazy ideas! (Great film by the way!)
  2. Appreciate it’s not really news outside of chez moi, but since there’s just a slim chance of some sympathy / understanding.... Im in for a turbulent night of bolshie, equal rights nonsense.... Mrs J is watching “Made in Dagenham!” ?
  3. Some impressive wind, hail, thunder & lightening passing over SE Cornwall right now (02:30)
  4. Just watched that again..... Cheered me up no end!!
  5. I'd be prepared to accept that as a "Monday morning" picture..... But unless you have a particularly severe case of OCD, I reckon you're more like this by Tuesday close of play:
  6. I'll have to add a slight re-direct there Khriss.... A few bob gets you a pair of yoghurt carton and a length of string... For decent portable computing power the new IPhone X with 256 Gigs will lighten your load by £1200! But since it's 100% deductible as IT equipment and less VAT you can slice another £192 off the sale price... Still cheaper and more reliable than a PA (but less chance of supplementary sexual favours.....)
  7. You gotta love the unswerving self confidence and perseverance! Thats is the stuff Empires were made of! On reflection, it’s easy to look back and see the glaring historical errors in the ideologies, but at the time, absolute confidence and determination is the driving force behind the greatest accomplishments of mankind.... if only you could adjust your perspective through 180 degrees and join the enlightened ones of team leave you’d be a winner for sure!
  8. Certainly not.... Matelot has way too much tolerance, patience and love of humanity for my taste, a veritable snowflake-liberal, dam his eyes! As for Clegg, I’d agree, he achieved more for the Lib Dems than anyone that went before him. The short sighted idiots within the party membership that rejected him for achieving so much are typical of the ‘I won’t be happy until everyone is as unhappy as me brigade’ that dominates the social democrat / socialist fraternity.
  9. Might be useful for London-ish dwellers: CASTING CALL: Looking for 20 rugby players of all different positions/types Casting Date: 5th - 8th January (5 min slots) Casting Location: London (TBC) Shoot Date: Tuesday 16th January/Wednesday 17th January (TBC) Shoot Location: London (TBC) Pay: £2,000 (- 20% commission) Email: [email protected] with photos, name, age, phone number, and confirmation of availability on shoot dates ASAP.
  10. The weather turns cold and the little barsteward mice get in the loft and keep me awake with their incessant running around scratching at stuff! Bait trays tomorrow!
  11. Farage should have been invested as Companion of Honour (one up from Knighthood and the highest level - This is awarded for having a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time.) Unquestionably the most credible political candidate in recent history.
  12. Mrs keeps (less than subtly) hinting that I should..... Scares me to the bejeeezus just the thought of it. Can't help with any input to your dilemma, but thanks a million for the reason to say no.... "...Sorry darling, It'll stop me working and that won't do will it..!"
  13. I was crabby by Boxing Day! Even the Mrs noticed (higher than usual) levels of irritability.... Went out on a job 27/28 which broke things up a bit.... Especially as in-laws arrived 27th.

  15. Shave off! They we are, in agreement again! Not quite so sure about the tar & feather thing, but throwing public money at private landlords for social tenants is complete madness / corruption.
  16. Or when the paper hasn't been ironed before being presented for consumption....
  17. And me! It's not just the ballachingly tedious process of scan, try again because the barcode is crumpled on the mature stilton, or the muppet that wrapped it rolled it around a corner on purpose because they feel threatened by the inevitable automation of the workplace which will see them unemployed as the unstoppable force of the machine replaces the spotty oicke on the first rung of the employment ladder or retiree making some spare cash, leading inevitably to the complete breakdown of civilised society... And... The place your meaningless consumer addiction on the "bagging area" message, or the call assistance because after 30+ years of purchasing alcohol you need earlier referenced spotty oike to authorise, or the discount isn't properly applied since the stilton should have been sold yesterday, but, since you've got some broccoli in that needs using and a stilton / broccoli soup tickles your fancy as you just happen to be passing the supermarket.... As if ALL that isn't enough to rage you right up, loike, what about the person behind you creeping ever closer even though you haven't moved at all? Now THAT is what really grates my gears, post office probably the worst - old people creeping ever closer like the unstoppable tide of human oppression - I haven't moved, stop getting closer to me! PS - and those auto pay-in machines at the bank. Use them and see your local branch closed. Why do the staff so eagerly set upon you and try and make you use the very facility that will put them out of a job? No, I'd rather wait in line - just don't let everyone creep closer unless I move - to freaks me out!

  19. I have some degree of respect for the government department that is the H&S executive. Not so much for those that seek to misrepresent the Act. The derail thing, perhaps I should have been clearer. The Dripline link showed a pic of a fairly tired looking bucket truck and the pics I used (it’s not like there are lots of photos of misuse of MEWPs posted online) were another example of how things can be misused / abused once they become established in common use. We we seem to have focussed more attention on hedge cutting than MEWPs. Im not sure it’s got much traction as a discussion in hindsight. Maybe worth a re-visit when MEWPs are written into the AFAG (or whatever they are called now)
  20. Apologies for being a bit snappy, it’s Boxing Day, it’s been persisting down all day and I’ve got cabin fever!
  21. Parochial because the discussion has focussed on hedge cutting rather than MEWP V climbing which was the point of the thread. No need to get all sensitive, I was merely following your lead or did you forget that?
  22. Could this get any more parochial? Try hedge reductions for dummies chapter 1! Have I ever used a pole pruner? Sounds more like you don’t have the upper body strength twinky ? and even if you did, you’d be spending all day freeing up a trapped bar ?????
  23. Still HT 103 = 3.9m reach That'd be 25.58' coming at it from either side. More than adequate since the main cut is likely to be at the midway point anyway. The right tool for the job!
  24. We're getting super focused on that single issue in the early pics (but a wheelie scaffold platform with 6' boards allows you to cover a fair area before coming down to shimmy it along)
  25. I'm like Mr Eggs because his sarcasm is only surpassed by his devilish good looks.....
