  1. Thanks. Waiting for the work to come flooding in now lol

  2. Passed! Don't know how though - my worst day cutting ever! First straight fell had no hinge, although it fell as planned! Retry sat back, so I sat it back up with wedges and dropped it with a lever - only for it to hang up! If I'd been the assessor I'd have failed me! Timber-tongs never came out of my bag - he said any idiot can lug logs about and stack them, it was the cutting he was there to see!

  3. I have a tape and a Husqvarna 357xp to measure the height of trees! Does look quite useful though. I'm just a bit concerned about the ruggedness (or lack of) of i-phones
  4. Thanks. Will look that up
  5. Apologies if this thread has been done before and I just didn't spot it. My phone is due for upgrade and I was wondering what is the smartphone of choice in the industry. I currently use a Blackberry, which I am happy with, but wondered if there was a more forester-friendly smartphone which would replace it.
  6. Erm - saws will run on diesel. My colleague was sent to the filling station for fuel for the saws. He came back, added two-stroke, mixed it and filled up. Him and the boss then promptly disappeared in a cloud of smoke when they started up. They were revving a bit funny, but they did run. I doubt they'd start from cold on it though
  7. Next wednesday! I'm definitely feeling ready now, although the guy I'll be working for who was training me (or breaking me of my bad habits!) told me after half a day that I was ready. I guess I wanted to be sure myself that I'd be able to do it

  8. Sorry for another Landy related suggestion. I had similar when the slave cylinder piston made itself a hole in the clutch arm. Hope this helps
  9. :thumbup:Clearly a trick question designed to lead you the wrong way. Use the semtex on the immovable obstacle, then fell the tree in an orderly manner using ( important bit they are looking for) a dogtooth cut. Beware of bits of the immovable object embedded in the tree though
  10. Is there still work going? I will possibly be available for 2-3 weeks end of March /beginning of April
