Take photos as you go Generally as you split the casing something catches and everything just falls out. Then after a couple of hours of reassembly - trying to put springs and things in places that make no sense, it seems a good idea to disassemble another saw to see how it all works. You then have two saws in the same situation.... Allow at least a weekend for this simple task and prepare for tears.... My advice is either let someone else sort it, use the choke to turn it off or buy a new saw Joking aside, it's not difficult but can be extremely fiddly and frustrating.

I was going to add that, but wasn't sure if 'pissardi' was a synonym or a variety. I've seen it written as Prunus pissardi and as P. cerasifera 'Pissardi'. So knowing that there are those even more pedantic than me (no names), I omitted it until I had chance to clarify my understanding Anyway Mr B, shouldn't you be doing something productive on a computer somewhere?.....

No photo's, but the height that armillaria rhizomorphs extend is surprising. When we were doing lots of DED elms, I'd find them under the bark thirty or more feet up

A reasonable approach Paul, but then it creates a precedent that 'you can have what you want if you're prepared to pay for it'. I think that that is the top of a very slippery slope. Locally, due to funding cuts it's becoming very much a situation that a householder can work on council trees, at their own cost, for non essential works to reduce nuisance issues. You have to wonder where and how it will all end. Edit: And no I don't have any solutions, before I get flamed

I've a Getac data collector into which I've put an Excel spreadsheet for the survey. Because it's older, it's a bit of messing about and I'm not quite there, but the idea is that I can take the SD card out, plug into the laptop, open the topo in Keysofts Tree Program and then import into the drawing. Basically the CAD program says,"right, got T1, where do you want to plot it. etc. Still need a paper plan on site, to reference tree numbers to, but hopefully once I've created all the excel drop down lists for all the input cells, it'll be pretty rapid. I've gone this way because it's cheap, starting out I can't afford to spend thousands on new dedicated devices and programs.

I wouldn't go that far... I would certainly try to call a TO as a character witness though, it might be fun after he'd told the court what a loss the contravention had caused, then for admit how diligent and professionally the accused had acted during the x no. Of years years he'd known him.
