  1. hay thats not a bad idea
  2. Im currently wearing the sip progress they are very hard wearing and comfy imo however i put my old hi flex on when the sips were wet the other day and did find them a lot nicer and lighter to wear but they just dont hold up in strength in comparison
  3. samuel adams boston lager is a favourite for me
  4. Each to their own lots of people will do it and get away with it for a lifetime but i know someone who got caught so it definitely does happen. Id suggest to anyone its cheaper to do the test that lasts a lifetime than end up paying fines and having points etc
  5. with the exception of when your at work and your car needs an MOT. not that i have ever sent my mum to do that
  6. you have to be careful about going down that route being put down as a named driver when really you are the main driver as it could get you into trouble if something happened and the insurance company read into it. putting your parents down on your policy as a named driver however should reduce the cost in a perfectly legal way
  7. https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car To be able to tow anything that you'd get a real benefit out of a truck and trailer combo id say imo youd have to really get your trailer license depending on when you passed your driving test. Its an easy test but its another expense to add on so where your trying too save on insurance for say a tipper you could be making it more expensive for yourself. it is handy too have a trailer license however you will always have it then. Also another thing to consider is whether you have a place to store said trailer to keep it safe
  8. Have you got the truck and trailer already? If not would a tipper not be cheaper than or similar depending on what combo you chose price wise. Also then when you did have money for chipper if thats the plan in the end youd already have a suitable vehicle to fire into. If im on the wrong track then ignore me and yes truck and trailer would be a good start.
  9. Home | Big Day Graphics my boss uses this company they are based in cambridgeshire. your best bet is too have a word with someone then they will have a play with what you want and give you a quote
  10. Thats a good shout best of both worlds then
  11. The single leg does have a few holes so there is slight adjustment but not a great range in difference and imo when you have it higher up on that leg it does get a bit steep. They can be a pain if your doing lower hedges it depends what position you can get them in as to how much they get in the way. we have a little platform for smaller hedges and a bigger three stage hailo set as well so it covers all the bases. But when the tripod ones can be used they really come into their own
  12. Another recommendation for the tripod type. I was dubious when i saw them first but cutting hedges from them you wouldnt realise you were on ladders. Also they are extremely light. Always good to have a few options
  13. My boss has a crafter box van. Lovely to drive but the quality of the paint and body is shocking for the age (bubbling/rusting) appearing on nearly every panel. You would expect better quality imo but other than that no problems i can think of.
  14. I have the stein with the peltor muffs/visor and I find the visor sits on my face. maybe down to my head size, but im looking to change to the msa attachments. other than that i find it sits comfortable on my head however id perhaps go for a Petzl next
  15. Few beech trees down into a farmers field
  16. ART Spiderjack Rubbers
  17. the etisia is an amazing bit of kit. when we first got one at work i laughed at it but my word did i underestimate it. incredibly versatile it will cut grasses and nettles that stand higher than the machine and im sure on banks you would fall off before it tipped over it grips like mad. might not be what your ideally looking for but it is an awesome machine
  18. had a piece that was being hooked out of a tree fall and bend on a section of ours a while back. from memory we just popped it out and popped the next bit along. not great as its a section shorter but it works. cant help you with info on spares though sorry mate
  19. oh man you have really killed my inspiration now. i guess ill have to ask extra nicely when im at the barbers next for a lollipop as i was saving my hard earned cash to buy a chipper....
  20. ill pm you my address for the sweets im not fussy on types any will be greatly accepted
  21. getting a job was i think the big key in the way i look at my job the way i do. you start at the bottom and if you want to increase your wage then you put in your work fair and square and you slowly work your way up and get given better jobs and learn. the more you see the more you learn and the more you learn the more of a decent understanding you get of the skill that some jobs actually do require. if i didnt work around other people and was on my own i would rapidly plumet and be lost. that being said if i went and wacked out all my cs' in one go yes i probably would pass and think i was good but id know a little about too much and again probably rapidly plumet. its a long learning curve and i will ultimately in years of doing be able to educate others when questions asked. until then i will take anything that anyone that has a higher understanding than me on board. good or bad whatever its all advice at the end of the day and if your strong enough minded you'll just push on to prove yourself
  22. no offence intended to the people that need too of course if its your only option then well... but for me its not an option and it would involve a whole lot of pride and dignity swallowing followed by some swearing and life assessing.
  23. i work for a grounds maintenance company however we do tree work as well and its the aspect i enjoy most to be honest. i was lucky to be taken on after two weeks work experience after showing i was willing to put in a hard days work. i currently hold my cs30 and 31 tickets and would in the long run aim to get more but to me i accept its a LONG learning process and i do not for one minute want to achieve them and think im the bees knees thats when things start getting dangerous etc. i would rather someone tell me the ins and out saying its a hard game because thats what give me drive to pursue my ultimate career goals. i am in my forth year working and to be honest its amazing how many companys i have seen appear overnight and dissapear just as quick so im sure for the people with years and years of experience you have seen hundreds. if people think this is a easy career option then think again. i work six days a week and yer i get enough money according to my experience but know full well this job is never going to make me millions. i take my hats off to everyone that runs a successful firm or are successful freelancing and they are the ones that need to be saying how it is. reality is harsh and if you cant take the truth your not going to be strong enough to strive. sorry for the essay btw
  24. sun is out and passed my cs31 today so im going to sink a beer or two tonight . great way to start my first post
