  1. I would recommend getting some boots that fit you and buying some comfy socks, like bridgedale for example.
  2. Birch is fantastic firewood. season it for a year, no more.
  3. This one obviously made a navigational error and ended up resting for a while on our ship out in the Minch.
  4. Cold tits outside my bedroom window.
  5. Amnesty International - working to protect human rights worldwide Have you contacted those guys?
  6. Ok, I had a second look and yeah it's almost exactly the same. Phew, I thought I'd lost the plot there for a moment.
  7. Ah well I never inspected it that closely.
  8. Thanks Jack. Really enjoyed that.
  9. I'm a big fan of the defender mainly due to the entry/exit angles. The bodywork simply ends at the wheels. otherwise underneath its the same as a disco. They are tractory and uncomfortable and not very nippy, true and You can get cold and wet driving one. But any vehicle that's comfy to drive and has road handling capacity won't have a front beam axle. It's the beam axles that keep her feet on the ground with some jaw dropping articulation. I like the short wheelbase best. Had longer ones but they ware out quicker underneath when they catch on stuff.
  10. You can find some horrible mallions around that people have picked up from B&Q and the like.... M&S... dunno about that but Mallions without kilo-newton markings shouldn't be used for PPE.
  11. Excellent vids, thanks for sharing
  12. But you can't kick the pantin off
  13. If it wasn't a scam then it would likely be a stump grinder stolen from someone in here.
  14. Detailed hourly forecast for Vendée, Loire (France) ? yr.no
  15. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu1BcNeebMI&feature=related]Arvo Pärt - Tabula Rasa, I - YouTube[/ame] Not a lot of singing there admittedly, nonetheless it's what I was just listening to
  16. I agree there Drew, Croll and ascender it's the fastest and most efficient but unsuitable for working while in ascent mode. And yeah if you shock load them badly enough they will rip the sheath right off yer rope. (been there done that)
  17. I ought to make an SRT vid and post it here then you guys can pick it to bits.
  18. Rig is not bad for an SRT ascent but nowhere as good I found as a chest strapped croll and hand ascender-footloop combi. You can Gain 3ft (depending on yer reach) on every pull and there's 0 slack in progress capture so whatever you can reach is exactly what you gain on each step.
  19. Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. Actually I didn't think you were trying to sell it as the holy grail mate. I just thought it looked like little upward progress for what seemed like a lot of effort. Are you losing progress due to slack produced by the wrench system?. Hard to see from the vids. Appreciate you posting them here by the way. Always very interesting to see different rope climbing methods.
  20. I concur, these are good: Google
  21. Nice one Dak. The experts always have a good solid safety rope: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7-jUxadAFQ]A good solid safety rope is essential - YouTube[/ame]
  22. Not sure how those vids serve to illustrate the benefits of using a rope wrench. Ascent method looks hard work and inefficient. Is it rope wrench you are using for progress capture in combination with petzl hand ascender?
  23. I had to play with stuff to get mine loaded too.
