  1. Hi Arc, no I agree, think Chris has earned this air-time! The tractor would have looked good on the trailer..... unfortunatly the trailer is now away to N.Ireland to its new owners. I may be should have put it on Arbtrader, oh well. Sorry Chris, the thread is now yours... Steve
  2. Hi Mate, did my Cs's in my 54 year.... please crack on, you will surprise yourself. Believe me when I say it will make you an even more interesting person! You are the second person on here within the week who at this tender age have concerns, you will only be what you want to be!.... from my point 'young at heart'. Steve
  3. Hey Chris, may be we should start a co-op..... all put one thing in and go around and 'clean-up' in every area that a suscriber comes from... Bit like a super team.... I could put my coffee machine in for a start! Steve
  4. I knew it was from selling body parts... all that about the albanians was a lie then!!!! Steve
  5. I won the divorce.... my ex got the farm! This is my 5th Ridgeback (4th realy, Lulu is Ridgeless) She lives in the motorhome with me by night and Landy by day.... She suffers with static sickness if it does'nt have wheels or smell of diesel!!!! Steve
  6. Hi guy's. meet Lulu.... comes as an optional mascot on any E.ON rover! Steve
  7. Hey Arc, some days were good and some bad!!!! Give you a idea for the Valtra... County not JCB (moron owner, with seized left brake!). Steve
  8. I've gone from 8 tractor & 16 trailers on a International to zero. My mog is a tower crane with little depreciation, 15 mpg as opposed to 6mpg... no 6/8 weeklys park it anywhere without P/P it earns money on tickover, fraction of the price to buy. The list just goes on! I was lucky to earn 400-500 daily with a truck, 350 in fuel, 50 in tyres, 100.00 in everthing else. Then undercutting.... (even double manning, could'nt make it) You need to be hauling your own product to make it pay. Yes there were good days, but a long while ago. Quite happy been a newbie here.
  9. Hey Chris, We both shop at the same decorators!!!! did not realise E.ON had such a range of vehicles on one web-site!!!! Steve
  10. Hi Arc The blue demount drag has gone..... the grey crane F12 awaiting cash transfer. I tried to encourage Global to swap grey volvo for a chipper last year, but it was not to be. It took 7 weeks to bare metal strip and spray this one.... I cannot tell you the money it cost to bring it right up. I think without checking 6k in tyres! When I read the cost of mog up-keep I do smile a little! Steve
  11. Can only give my own pers views as you would expect..... Very knowledgeble and helpful. I have bought various things from them, tyres, fuel tank, grills, mudgaurds all reasonable considering what you would pay from Mercedes. There returns policy has been brilliant when I incorrectly ordered, full refund! Shipping same day. Even sent small item free with no charge! Talked at length about intercooling my mog, which they didn't advise considering I don't run any kit fm mine... thought I should try a while first. When I'm passing, they are going to do rear coil springs (I'm running heavy with mewp) It just so happened I knew of them from trucking. I'm sure the other companies will be equally as good. I, like you talk to lots of people with mogs, some have good, bad, and ugly stories about where they have been. Its easy to get sucked into getting options quickly at the beginning, as you may have noticed these can be very pricey! My biggest purchases for the mog have been winches and shot blasting/painting, both these I've had done where all my trucks have been. Can't afford mistakes at those kind of prices. Have Ramsey RPH 20k front, Warn M1500 rear. The paint and shot blasting has followed 2 weeks fabrication at a guy I use in Welshpool. Like most, my mog is my largest advert whilst out working. I can't be doing with things that are'nt right or don't perform well. I have read the threads on how much they cost to keep, all I can say after running other commercial vehicles I am more than happy with the return v cost. I think the trick is, like some of the lads mentioned, buy the best you can. You appear to have done just that...... Steve
  12. Chris, I know what you mean.... Just sold this one. (the truck that is). Collected Mog in Stornoway, or some place with very small roads and took to Atkinson Vos for turbo kit. They are like children, loved having them, great when they have gone!
  13. Chris, you need to socialise more....
  14. Ah! thats where the money came from...package deal! I was going to ask you about your success in the tree work marketing sector, or if I could use your bank manager.... However you did it, I'm sure it represents a lot of hard work. Ps; maybe the lack of seats is down to a Ag version, just plain guessing now! Steve
  15. Hi Chris, not certain..... just looked at the floor-pan between the seat of yours and it is different to mine..... The most obvious differences are I don't have a monkey-puzzle of levers for a start (just gearlever, handbrake, pto.) but there are blanking plates for the others. My gear lever is straight, but set for right-hand drive. Also mine is a 1550L, might be the real answer. May be some of you better informed may know??? Put extra passengers in chip bin! Steve
  16. Hi Guys, mine is right hand drive with three seats..... got to be, the ridgeback wont fit on one! Steve
  17. Thats another 600 you've got to earn. The way you're going this week selling your body parts will mean you won't be able to reach the pedals! If you go that route, bags I refusal on chainsaw trousers! Steve
  18. Hi Chris, I'm down in Hathersage.... just West of Sheffield. May be could do like real people do, meet up in pub car parks in summer and rev our engines whilst stroking our pride & joy's..... oh and touch the Mog's as well!!!! If the paint spray shop mine is in don't hurry, it may be winter meetings. Steve
  19. Hi Chris, Wel done..... nice to see a guy with courage of his own convictions. I think tesco in Newcastle is going to need wider bays! When I grow up I will get a proper one with proper things on it... like yours, till then my mewp one will have to do. Steve
  20. Hi Chris, Wel done..... nice to see a guy with courage of his own convictions. I think tesco in Newcastle is going to need wider bays! When I grow up I will get a proper one with proper things on it... like yours, till then my mewp one will have to do. Steve
  21. Shoot the owners first!
  22. If you find yourself outfaced just holler, my mog & chipper are not far away, the climber who brings my anti-ache tablets up the tree for me is used to working with wrinklys.... though he is 5 years your senior. don't be put off by the enormity of it all, have faith in yourself. Know your limitations which will increase in time and get some decent help.... Then everyday can be a training day! Let everbody know how well its going. Steve
  23. After owning and running a heavy haulage business (cat 1/2 and 3) this career change has been brilliant! As others, who have been around the bush a few times will know, this business as every business as its ups and downs..... You are what you want to be, yes a certain amount of good luck is required and the right place at the right time, that is same for most things in life. When you look at what this work and enviroment offers, it takes some beating. Its a pity, that for the most, you can only appreciate when time has gone by. The ones that see this young, you are the lucky ones! Happy climbing! Steve
  24. I now have all my persciptions delivered up the tree! what about you? Steve
  25. Hi there! cheap insurances, licences easy, dealing with people a doddle. At 37 you are young!!!! I did all my Cs's in my 50's.... Started trading this year, still looking for a problem to overcome. get yourself a younger climber to work with and learn, use the strong points you have AGE! Steve The Tree Team 07813 041752
