  1. My petrol magik arrived today. It's here, it's heavy and it's huuuuuge..... It's comfortingly bigger than i expected. Looks the business. Hopefully I'll get 5 minutes to unpack it and fire it up tomorrow. R
  2. rowan have you got or could you get any close up pics of your fabricated table? cheers rich
  3. cheaper than that - call Ian Maynard at Halse of Honiton or William Conn at M Larges - both will do a sensible price and quick delivery.
  4. 4 way knife. Didn't bother with table. Might use a log or fabricate one.
  5. Bought myself a 13 t petrol engine magik. Arrives today hopefully. Great service from Ian Maynard at halse of honiton and m larges.
  6. I might have 10 M3 of OK/ BE very well seasoned for sale. Have you got a tractor for picking it up or do you need it delivered? It's near Lyndhurst.
  7. Thing is a good proportion of the load shown is taken up by a wheelie bin.... That's got to be about .3 of a cube.......
  8. There are better deals available than that from retailers.
  9. Same as that really. Wanted the flexibility to use the splitter on its own or even take it home to split some wood for the fire now and again. I was just worried that the petrol one would be a lot slower than the pto version. Looking at the figures it doesn't seem like much difference in the stroke speed down on single or double speed. What's the return speed like?
  10. Wood chopper. Thanks fr that. Is it the petrol engined model your using ? Looking at th specs he pto version is 9 and 29 m/sec ram speed and the petrol engine on 7.5 and 26 m/ sec ram speed. That's not a whole lot of difference unless anyone knows better.
  11. So no go on a 562 over here in the uk then?
  12. If its just cutting a few logs to feed a stove you prob don't need a 550xp. That's like buying a formula 1 car to go collect the kids in. The husky semipro stuff might be a better bet. And a bit cheaper and easier to handle.
  13. Rowan How does the ram retract after the log is split? You pull both levers down to get the wedge to come down and then the log cracks, when you let go of the handles does the wedge auto return whilst you pick up another log or do you have to push the levers up to retract the cylinder/ wedge? The guy from joe turner equipment said "all the (Thor) splitters have "auto return" in that you operate the levers to take the ram back up" I thought the ram went back up as soon as you took your hands off the levers perhaps?
  14. Anyone got any experience of the pto version of the 13t?
  15. Roundup 1 m spot spray. Need to get someone who does this for a living or youll kill your baby trees. Grass round young trees is just as bad as broad leaved weeds. If its just grass use kerb flow able on a wet day in the winter.
  16. Nobody got one, got any video of one ( except the ball squashing video)
  17. Cheers rob. What you using now? Also - cheers for the bar and sprockets, chain etc. It looks like the farmer is a bit limited but it's the Magik i'm interested in. Anyone got any alternatives? This search is a bit of a minefield. You think you're there and then it's gone again....
  18. I don't think anyone would be leaving their gathering on 24/7 and would deffo switch off when nobody's in. I put my gas boiler on as little as possible and switch off when I go out and overnight. I have 2 open fires that eat wood but at least 1 is lit whenever I'm in the house in the winter and 2 when it's really cold. I go through about a wheelbarrow (piled right up) every two days when it's cold, more if I'm in a lot. 10 wheelbarrows are about 1m3 so approx £100 worth of logs. I wouldn't want to have to buy them now but conversely if I had loads of money I wouldn't be doing logs and I could probably afford to buy them!
  19. I have a massive fibreglass handled maul which is heavy and not that efficient but is handy for some big bits. I also have one of these https://www.toolandfix.com/bahco-mcp-2-5-810-splitting-maul-3-2kg.html?gclid=CLLHiOHaz7oCFbMbtAodoCIAkg It's 3 yrs old and light enough to swing all day but really gets through stuff quickly and easily. I have replaced the handle on my one but after about 400 tonnes....
  20. I guess you might have had the road tow farmer model. This is a more low rent version. I was almost set on the mignon prof 11t petrol but the vids of it look too slow on the stroke. The magik looks quicker and prob easier for billets. I'll pop up to riko to have a look at the balfor models. The leader system looks useful for billets though.
  21. All Anyone got experience of the above. Want a machine to use without tractor. What's the stroke speed like? Someone on here said it doesn't have auto return? Is this right? Does anyone have any video of it doing anything other than bouncing on a football. I mean a video of someone using it productively? Cheers
  22. The Thor magik 13 tonne petrol - someone said its not got auto return. I'm doing about 150 tonne and am looking for a splitter that can do rings and billet. No tractor so need a petrol splitter. I've jut had a good price on one and it seemed a good bit of kit with a double pump.
  23. i cant see the woodline multipla on the fuelwood list anymore... who is retailing them in the uk now?
