  1. Wait till you're stuck up a tree and the fire brigade have to get you down with......... a LADDER! You'll love them then
  2. Grow some and have a word with him. He might not even know that what he's doing is illegal - most people probably don't unless they're in the industry.
  3. Bolle Silium - picked up a pair from Screwfix £8.99, and wore them all day yesterday. Sweating like a pig and no steaming up. So comfortable too that I didn't even notice I was wearing them. Also got a pair of the Bolle Trackers for grinding and chipping - again, really comfortable, and only £9.99.
  4. Prefer driver's side. Less likely to get snagged on stuff when going down country lanes.

I find the best way to not get caught is to go out under cover of darkness into my neighbour's garden, often better when there's some wind blowing to cover up the noise of the clucking hens as I disturb them, and get them that way.
  6. How did it happen? Weren't you going araf enough?
  7. That was too close for comfort! There have been some big fires this way in Ashdown Forest last weekend as well.
  8. I know how you feel. It's been a mental week for me. Today was one of those days where we have a 5 day job which we get finished half day early, then instead of going home we do a 2 half day jobs in the remaining half a day . Them flock filters, they filter down to 30 micron according to Husky product support, and are probably what would be best for AndyBev. http://husqvarna.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/628/~/product-support---what-does-44%E2%B5-and-80%E2%B5-mean-when-i-look-up-my-air-filter%3F
  9. If there's a problem with dust, why on earth would someone want to go from a 40 micron filter to an 80 micron filter? 40 micron filters filter out particles as small as 40 microns, whereas 80 micron filters filter out particles only as small as 80 microns. This is standard filter terminology - spec'd by the size of particle they filter.
  10. Can't stop laughing - brilliant!
  11. That's a result. Once you get your refund you should let the papers know - I expect there are a lot of other people due refunds!
  12. Alasdair, I've got some quieter weekends coming up and most of the work for the landowner who said I could use his trees for rec climb has now been done. I've not forgotten Henry, and will sort something soon.
  13. You had anyone siphoning?
  14. Nice one Bob, and so glad that you've got good family support. Wouldn't be without my kids, ever, even though they're hard work sometimes! Take it careful as instructed - not worth pushing things.
  15. Check out the Makita electric chainsaws (Lawson HIS: Power Tools from Makita, Bosch, Metabo, Dewalt and more have some good deals and I've been more than happy with dealings with them) are a top notch supplier - I've used one for decking joists (9x2), posts (4x4 and 6x6), and floor joists and roof trusses, and logs. You honestly won't got wrong with one of them.
  16. I quite fancy trying the Makita back pack one - from the specs it should be on a par with Stihl BR600. The usual good warranty too.
  17. I should have added this quote from the FC site to my post: "6. Felling necessary for the prevention of danger or the prevention or abatement of a nuisance (eg. which may involve threat of danger to a third party). This exemption will only apply if there is a real rather than a perceived danger. We may be able to give you advice that would minimise the danger without felling the trees. We strongly recommend that you contact us if you are considering felling a tree or trees in these circumstances. You may be prosecuted for illegal felling if it is shown that the tree did not present a real or immediate danger."
  18. Don't panic! You do NOT need a felling licence if the trees are dangerous or a nuisance. This is quite clear on the FC site. See Forestry Commission - Felling licences exemptions
  19. Bolle are very good. They're a proper glasses and goggles manufacturer and know what they're doing. A million times better that the tosh that Stihl etc try to pass off as work glasses!
  20. I think it's the CE approval and the cost.
  21. I misread that, and had visions of Xena, Warrior Princess!
  22. There was one who did some work at may parents place years ago - she was like a little squirrel she was, the way she flew through the trees.
  23. Trango Cinch is on my wanted list. The SAR/ISC/Troll rockers can be released under load - - not sure if the Camp one is different.
  24. Probably wouldn't be able to charge for it as they wouldn't know where to start. All they can do it add up, subtract, divide, multiply and use the % button on a calculator. Actually, some can't even do that now, they just key numbers into accounting software.
  25. I don't understand the negative comments either. I use the SAR Rocker (same as ISC) on a long lanyard for positioning when doing several groups of trees we maintain (the big ones I leave to that good fella!). I've also been using Rockers for climbing some bigger trees with my kids, SRT and using them as ascenders. Good thing is they provide proper fall arrest too, they run freely when you want, and I like the way you can swivel that cam thing round so they hold in place on the rope. I find they work perfectly on both my 11mm Marlow Aeris, and also on my 12mm Kingfisher kingbraid that I use for a lanyard. Really don't know why people don't seem to rate them for work positioning and fall arrest in trees, whereas they're one of the best devices available for work positioning and fall arrest!
