  1. My thoughts exactly Eddy, but I was peckish anyway.
  2. It is (was) indeed a leather australian wide brimmed hat, bought on Weymouth seafront. It was a shame to eat it, but was tasty with chilli sauce. Sorry, no pics.

    038

    An 038 is 61cc, but an 038avs is 66cc I think.
  4. I am glad you have found a problem Rimo, but I still not totally convinced that its your only problem. The brake band was not ON but was broken, this would not normally prevent the drum from rotating, so there just could be something else happening. And, make sure you use the correct chain for that bar, if in doubt which one is right post close ups of all 3 on here and someone will let you know.
  5. Be very carefull what you wish for:001_smile:
  6. Its good to see that the last man standing is a Somerset man Jon.
  7. Oh, the suspense is almost too much. Will I be forced to leave this thread in shame. come on monsieur Rimo, vous must be awake by now, get out in le shed and check la chainbreak ( bon frenchy talk, eh?)
  8. Hahaha Bob, thought you might have been tempted:001_smile:
  9. Lets hope we find out, very often we never hear any more from the people who ask the questions.
  10. I could still eat my hat:biggrin:
  11. It could be off, but with a bit of crud behind it, there is usually more gap when its on. Maybe? Hopefully. ( I hate to be wrong)
  12. Sorry guys in capes, but I think Tractor62 is on the money with this one, that chain brake looks fine to me. Looks like that plastic has been scoured by that wide chain.
  13. The McCulloch 7-38 is now withdrawn as it has been robbed for spares and scrapped.
  14. The John deere mower is now the property of Parker as he has offered to donate £20 to The Childrens Trust. Thank you Parker.
  15. that looks like a carlton K1 chain, which is wide kerf, but the saw should have a narrow kerf. I think thats your problem. Change your chain and see.
  16. Is the saw on its correct chain? It should have a 'narrow kerf' chain, that is to say that it runs on a narrow bar with a 1.3mm groove and a narrow chain to make a small, efficient, cut. If by any chance a standard 1.3 chain is fitted it may cause your problem. Just a thought.
  17. This JD R40 push mower came in today, but rather than repair the owner opted for new. The issue is the deck which is made of polythene but is braking up around the skirt. It still works OK but looks tatty and is not really repairable, only bodge able, and I don't bodge, so its due for the scrap bin which is a bit of a shame, as the engine is perfect. But there is no grass box. So if anyone wants to offer to donate £20 to the charity they can become the owner of this machine. I don't want the hastle of trying to box it up, so it will be collect in person only. From East Devon
  18. The KL95 turned out to be a good one. It gave me a bit of a shock when I did the compression check before servicing, it was only 60 psi!. But it started and ran fine, so I checked it again, still 60 psi but I knew this could not be right. I then used my trusty old Draper gauge instead of my nice new Sealey one. Now its spot on at 95 psi. It just goes to show you can't rely solely on test equipment, its no substitute for experience. So the Sealey one is binned, and off to Halfords to buy a Gunson with my trade card. After several event free services I came to a Huskie 142 which just would not behave itself. On these saws it is often the impulse seal which has split and this one was no exception.
  19. You need a bigger bench:001_smile:
  20. Well, nobody wants the McCulloch, not much of a surprise, but its still up for grabs. I have nothing else to offer at the moment, but I will offer items as they become available. In the meantime many of you must have something you don't want, that someone else might. It does not have to be a saw, anything will do. So post them up here and make some money for the Childrens Trust.
  21. How many 'views' are Spuds own, I wonder? I know that a lot are mine! In reality there are probably only a dozen or so of us that actually view it. Come on guys, lets see who the viewers are, own up:thumbup:
  22. You may be on to something there, you would not usually be starting mowers in sub zero temperatures. The belt will be stiff and the oil will be very thick. Its probably not as cold down here. You may find it is just a very strange coincidence. A few years ago I had 3 governors fail on GCV engines in a few weeks. I started to believe there was a weakness, but never had one since. And like Stihl FS55 etc coils, OK, we know they are weak, but I had 6 fail in one week recently, and that was one after the other, after the other. Have not had one since.
  23. Yes, congratulations on achieving over 80000 views Steve. Others may help to 'fill it out' but you are the one that keeps it going.
  24. I do lots of Honda services and whilst I hear of cam belt troubles, I have never had them. I guess my luck will change now since posting this though! Keep us posted on this problem and how you cure it, I guess they need new belts.
  25. Some things just have to be done.
