  1. Ah nice one mate, yeah not really feeling the idea of putting new rubber on those old rusty wheels!
  2. Ah fair enough, the pics were to give a general idea on how the fence looks. Sorry mate.
  3. Hi eggs. Not quite, it's being used like a retaining wall, which is why it's failing. Mum's side is higher so the fence is approx 5 foot , neighbours side is lower (and it's the neighbours side that the fence is on) so it's 8 foot ish on her side top to bottom. I'm having a bit of a brain fart , might just take a couple of photos tomorrow. Thanks for input guys
  4. Can't you build it on site? This fence literally consists of posts - two rails - and up rights, doesn't look as though it has been brought in in sections
  5. Yeah, the second company I worked for did a fair bit of fencing with. I'm self employed now, but have never had to quote for a fence, so wasn't sure of the cost of materials. Though I do remember easily getting more than 6 posts in, in a day, unless the digging was savage.. I appreciate that everyone's over heads are different, but there is defo a point when 'expensive' becomes 'taking the piss'
  6. Thanks mate. Mum has voiced her concern but the neighbour who has got the quote says she trusts this builder, so she doesn't really want to get another quote. Other issue is that my mum isn't paying for the wall, only going halves on the fence. So it's just all a bit complicated really! All I know it's that I would do the fence for a fraction of that price. Have done plenty of fencing, just never priced for any.
  7. His quotes are £1719-82 for the wall and £1329-30 for the fence.. so not exactly like he's pulled a figure out of thin air!
  8. Heya all, tyres need replacing on my truck (ford ranger mk2). While I'm at it in going to get some wheels as well, standard ones are getting pretty manky. What have you guys/girls managed to fit to your pick ups without having to cut anything? Pics welcome Thanks!
  9. So he will have to take out the old fence as he goes I guess. But he's going to have to do that to build the wall anyway,
  10. Thanks for the replies guys To go into more detail, the neighbours back garden has been land scaped level, leaving a 3 foot step up between boundaries. So from my mum's side I would say the fence is about 5 foot, more like 8 foot on the neighbours side. It looks as though it was installed in a way so that it acted like a retaining wall... As well as a fence. And now it's started to fail, no biggie really, as it's only holding a fairly small amount of material.. So the builder has quoted £1800 for the retaining wall, which to me seems fair. Again it's about 7m long, approx 3ft high. .. simple block wall. And then on top of that a quote for approx £1300 for the fence, which will sit just in front of the wall. Like I said digging looks good, land was green before the house was built on it No mention of services to negotiate, and when asked for a break down of the costs he declined saying 'he doesn't do that' because he's dyslexic.
  11. https://goo.gl/images/YFc21N very similar to this.
  12. Heya, just a quickie really. My mum is currently in the process of going halves with her neighbour on a fence, which is situated on the boundary. It's approx 8 foot high, 7 meters long, 6 posts. All wood. She's been quoted £1330 for the work.. Seems a bit steep to me? Digging looks okay...
  13. Thanks for the input guys , it wasn't a truckman but looks just like one (huge) and went straight on! Thanks again
  14. Had a go reducing a fairly big oak, spreading crown quite leggy growth because as it was an old Pollard, srt with 10mm ocean (I think) on my 11.5 tachyon. Was lovely, really would have been hard work otherwise! Thanks Joe for the friction hitch advice
  15. Excellent news! Thanks Mr Mulla.. don't suppose anyone knows if the ladder rack needs cutting off to accommodate the truckman? Or does the truckman sit over the top of it?
  16. Heya all, sorry for the boring question... Do pick up tubs vary in size between the 2wd and 4wd models? More specifically the ford ranger 2wd & 4wd, mk1 or 2 Can't find any info on t net, the reason I ask is because I'm hoping to pick up a truckman top in the next couple of days - off of a single cab 2wd b2500 Thanks!
