  1. got the road tow, dont really need a tracked £14,750 + VAT very reasonable considering the solid build quality, totally diffrent league compared to the old TW
  2. all in all a bloody good machine at A cracking price. cant wait to get some big clearance jobs through her!
  3. been using ours 10days and love it !!!! bye bye TW and terrible service!!!
  4. haha let me upset most. had similar problem a few wks back, had green mech and timberwolf, then got a demo of the new forst st6 from redwood . That impressed I bought one! is classed as a 6" machine but performs like an 8 or 9" machine production wise. rugged and simple cant fault it,also cant keep up with feeding it gobbles brash even knarly old hedge stows and such! get a demop one, you wont be disappointed
  5. bollock your workers for not informing you.haha
  6. hi there for your budget id recommend a little david brown tractor with loader or similar, we picked up a little 1390 2wd with loader for £3000.00 last year off ebay. was a good little workhorse and you can run a log splitter/saw bench as well in the future off it.
  7. best insurance you can have for that is a big f...in chain and padlock! with the scum around these days
  8. :001_rolleyes:id of straddled the carriage on the telehandler instead tbh :001_rolleyes:
  9. hi Pete I rung Turner @ Chester last week, still waiting to hear from them The 1928 is the machine im thinking for us. Only problem, ive only really got 9k to budget for it.or finance. Could you give me a ring next week im very interested in the 1928 machine. Andi 07842809819
  10. very true but what ive seen of a couple of the 750kg machines is that to meet the weight, they are shaving off the bigger sturdier bearings and shafts for these much lighter less robust fittings. Ive been bitten by bearings and shafts 3times now totalling £2400.00 in 3 years also we have put 900hrs on our machine in these 3years so its doing a fair amount of work, hence me thinking maybe i need a bigger chipper. Thanks for all advice and im going to beg for as many demo machines as possible
  11. we had issues with the 220 and its weight also. Had to tow it behind the 4x4 as the tranny looked very sorry with it and a load on the bloke wants £4500.00 for this 220 so its not too expensive at that money, requires new exhaust, belts and blades but it loved leylandii even with mullered knives!
  12. fancy selling yours Rich? sounds the machine for me
  13. a540di jenson looks a sturdy beast for us. Any thoughts on this? im lost in this lot now!!
  14. sorry to sound so blunt about our local TW dealers BTW. Im not here to slate them, infact rung TW HQ today and they were great however both our local dealers are terrible, they are only interested in selling you bits, i was even told to heat the bearings today to make them expand to fit in the sloppy bearing housingt they had sold me! hmmm hot bearings....recipe for failure to me. Rant over Right im looking into Jensen woodchippers now, still concerned over the sub 750kg machines not being upto the job with inferior bearings and shafts, another thing to consider is im only 25 so would have to do trailer test, small sacrifice i suppose for greater productivity.
  15. sounds like the quadchip and TW150 are too similar. Never had any doings with jensen so would have to try one. Im thinking that maybe need a TW190 sized machine now or bigger to comfortably cope with what we are doing with her, although im reluctant to part with further cash for a tw to be fobbed off by dealers and have loads of expensive downtime
  16. when you say one step too far in weight saving, what size will it process and what is its gross weight? we have been thinking that we may of "outgrown" our TW150 and have been working it at its max all day every day as the majority of our work is larger felling/ clearance jobs so larger stuff is being chipped every day as opposed to "pruning" si=zed pieces that the TW150 was designed for.
  17. is that the same capacity as the one ive been using rich?
  18. just watched a vid on youtube of a quadchip 160 posted by TCD looks a good equal to the TW150. what roughly is the retail price on the GM unit? Im waiting for greenmech to phone back for a demo
  19. what size does that take? ive been using this golliath twin axle 220 all week and it munches everything you can load it with, two of us couldnt slow it up today in leylandii, beast of a thing but rather heavy @ 1550kgs
  20. i know what your saying Shane. 3 times replacing bearings in 3 years! even had the dealers replacing them and still can only get 250hrs out of them tops.always keep on top of blades etc. The dealers insist i should get 500hrs+ from a set of bearings but even themselves cannot get this figure from my machine ! looked at the greenmechs and the bearings are much more robust etc. |TW know the issue on the bearings is the bearing housing not being a snug fit on the bearings allowing movement!, thus causing failure. They wont remanufacture these parts as they are making a mint on replacment parts TW have even admitted that the design of the 150 flywheel & housing is sloppy and at best awkward to centre and align the shafts correctly on rebuilding. i consulted timberwolf themselves and not the dealers today and was informed that what the dealers are telling me is total BULL!! lost all faith in TW
  21. stobarts £10.00/tonne now the yard has been audited
  22. After many years of staying strong to the timberwolf brand, i am updating my chipper as running costs on her + recent very poor aftersale/parts service from our dealer im switching to green! Ive been using a greenmech 220 9" chipper this week whilst rebuilding my TW and have been amazed by its performance. Ok its a far bigger machine than my 150 but im definately impressed. Im after peoples opinions of greenmech machines, both performance and maintenance comments. Also if anyone has a straight 2nd hand greenmech for sale, please feel free to PM me Andi
  23. the last picture looks like he is a victim of a hit and run.
  24. dog poo around your barriers work a treat they wont paddle through that!!!!!!!!!!!
