Stalin made Hitler look like an Angel, its only the fact he was fighting with us against hitler that we turned a blind eye to what was happening in Russia to his own people, he killed more of his own people than the Germans did, and they killed 15 million, As churchill said in 1945 " i think we got the wrong pig". Horrendous fella that Stalin.

Correct, Hitler made a better politician than a army commander, his commanders knew they would lose the war after Stalingrad, but he wouldn't listen to them. not taking Britain in 1940 came back to haunt him when the allies invaded Normandy in 1944. But What a army the Wehrmacht were, totally fearless, with a iron will to overcome any obstacles that were in their way, probably the most lethal army ever assembled, but always out numbered on the battle field, As i said before fuel was at a premium, what with those giant Tiger tanks gusseling petrol at 2 MPH didn't help them either.
  3. I see, .....Interesting, Can't help but notice that no one mentions investing in the stock market? not even to put some aside for when for when the old joints start to ache. You don't want to be working into your 70's do you. Oh well nevermind!!!

Spot on, The wehrmacht ran out of supplies/ fuel etc, that combined with the Russian winter weakened them to a point of no return, 80% of the German army perished in temperatures of -40, Hitler needed to take Russia for its commodities, eg fuel, wheat, iron ore to help them further the war effort, but they were stretched to thin over Russia's vast distances. yep Stalingrad was brutal on both sides. That was Hitlers main reason for not invading Britain in 1940, he wanted to keep his troops fresh for russia, that was his long term goal.

Did you know that Churchill was declared bancrupt in 1938. Forget britain in the second world war, we were just a thorn in germany's side, does anyone here know where the real battles were taking place? the one the media doesn't really want to talk about.
  6. Hello dave The old timbermaster skyline is heading out of fashion due to the time it takes to set up and take down again, with tie backs and anchors etc, have you considered the new and better excavator based skyline, you can set up in no time, the front crane/ bucket is its anchor, they are superbly efficient machines. I don't know where there is one currently for sale, try the ads in Forest Journal.
  7. Ditto, can't stand the thought of needles, doctor wanted some blood out of me 2 weeks ago, i said no way, I don't know what would happen to me if i was seriously ill and had to have injections, I'd rather have a bang on the shin bone with a lump hammer. As other people say, rest is the the key.
  8. Thanks for your answer, The best so far, i agree on most things you say except gold is safe a haven, in the event of a market sell off., gold will fall alongside other assets, as investors will liquidate all other paper investments to offset other losses elsewhere, Gold recently has pulled back from $1920 to $1580 during the Eurozone crisis.
  9. Its ok, I can see you're intelligent, and doing well for yourself in these uncertain times. You're also quite right about me, I do see things only the way i think everyone else should see them too...... thats what the mrs says too about me, and she like you is a Scot.
  10. What am i supposed to be turning around, i just said well done on your achievments,.... I asked a question, you answered, I replyed back etc, you might take that as critism, i don't,.... I think you have gone a tad OTT in your last post. So just for the record.....Well done Stephen Blair (star of the show) Ps, any relation to Tony.
  11. Well done you,...... you don't half take things the wrong way.
  12. Your child is not an investment, where do you see children advertised as investments, you are confusing the two issues, its completley seperate.
  13. Got it in one. i'm talking in money not holidays, recreations, make the coin first, then maybe and i mean maybe holidays then, I've always been pretty ruthless with myself to be set up by 40.
  14. I,m only 12 for gods sake.
  15. You shouldn't be" investing" in family life, that should come naturally, without the financial input.
  16. why would it take a holiday to show them an insight into their future, i knew what i wanted to do well before my 10th birthday, i never wavered.
  17. Lol lol. I didn't say holidays etc,..... I said investing in.....
  18. Thats some holiday Stevie, But what would you have to show for it, can't live off memory's
  19. In reality you wouldn't.
  20. Aaah, but invest in what?
  21. Well I go through a 357 every 12 months, mind you it does about 1500 hours in that time of grinding hard work, after about 9 months i can really see the saw starting to go downhill, mainly loss of power, I then p/x it at 12 months for a new one, costs me about £275 to change. Yes i know i could spend money on it to replace the worn parts, but i prefer to change for a new one.
  22. hello all This is something that has intriuged me for sometime now, What would the good people here at Arbtalk do if they had £100k to spare, would they invest it in, stocks and shares, property,or invest it in furtheing their business. I fully realise that we are all different in our aspect to life, age, and ambitions , health etc etc, But what would you do? Cheers.
  23. is the hedge only one tree thick? you will probably need a access platform to work from, if i was on piece work i'd do it in a day off a platform,( my backround is commercial forestry), but this is a different ball game where i would have to slow myself down to justify my £1800 estimate, price it with the hired platform in mind. £300 for platform £1500 profit over 3 days, can't be bad:laugh1:
  24. Orwite Trig, try Boycee, he's normally got a few stumps that need grinding,........know what i mean!!! no seriously, good luck.
  25. Lets not make mountain out of a molehill, it doesn't count on the richter scale.
