  1. Glad you got a laugh out of it Rich, nice one I'll try that next time the muffler comes off:thumbup:
  2. I've recently spent more time than I would have liked replacing the muffler on an ms200 back handle. My question is and I should have asked beforehand:001_rolleyes: Is there a trick/nack to fit one as the gasket kept sliding out of place:laugh1: Cheers, Si
  3. Called in to the shop today on the off chance as I had some parts on order and not only were the parts waiting Mark fitted a helicoil free of charge. while I waited. If that wasn't enough they lent me some kit to try out too You can't beat that level of customer care, nice one guys.
  4. Nice find there James. Chippy, may well do mate:sneaky2: Tree moose, thanks. Not sure yet what I'm doing with them as yet though.
  5. Argh windows 8 is a tricky beast.
  6. As in the title, found these in the log pile today. Should go down well for Valentine's.
  7. Hi Tom, Did you have a carving bar on it mate or the bar they come with? I'd love to try one out, like you say would need to be an extra tool/ aid to the usual kit. Not tried the Echo 270/280 either but would be very interested to see how they compare next to each other, the 150 being about a hundred dearer. Si
  8. Looking good mate, Have a look at thishttp://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaw-carving-forum/49779-uk-carving-events-comps.html
  9. Great post Dellwood:thumbup: Thanks mate
  10. Stunned! I won something Thank you Steve and everyone for all their efforts, well done you guys and girls.
  11. Ooh lovely! Seal with either latex or any gloss paint:thumbup1:
  12. Ah yes well spotted, I'll probably try a helicoil fix for the stripped out thread and then upgrade to the roller system. Thanks for clearing this up bud. Si
  13. Cheers for that, I'll look into it:thumbup: Lots of good info here 18 stoner, thanks. Does the roller bolt just connect the two dogs or does it also screw into the casing(ie the stripped out thread). The inner dog would only be fixed at the top screw unless I fix the thread issue. Another point, is it a pain getting the clutch cover off, do you need to un do the bolt on the roller? Cheers, Si
  14. Interesting video:thumbup1: I do like his work, think he's done a series of ripple benches. Come to think of it he's a member on here.
  15. Help! I lost the catcher and bolt off my 066 and when I looked at replacing them I realised that it hadn't simply vibrated loose but had completely stripped the thread. What's the best solution here? I thought maybe getting someone to tap a larger hole and get a bolt to fit. It's aluminium so should be ok right?? Thanks in advance, Si
  16. Hi Tom, Let us know how you find the 150 mate, looks like a great little saw. Cheers, Si
  17. Hi Hamish, that's lovely mate:thumbup: What were the other 4? Nice website too BTW Cheers, Si
  18. That's a big old tree, be great to see the seat when it's done.
  19. Thanks treequip, No secret really. Sometimes helps to work from a maquette/model first, but best advice is to make your cuts cautiously, leaving some spare wood on the piece in the blocking out phase. This should hopefully avoid those "Oh balls, I didn't mean to do that " moments You can then more easily tease out the shapes you want. Hopefully you'll then have a pile of sawdust, odd looking firewood and a cool looking chair/ sculpture:biggrin:
  20. Yes mate, I may go down that route. I'd really like to try lacquer but I don't have the set up to spray. I've been following Big J's thread on building a wood kiln too, yet another addition to my fantasy Christmas wish list! Let's hope the raffle is kind to me this year:biggrin: Si
  21. Cheers TimberArt, Yes too true mate, took some the other day whilst still wet with oil. Would be nice to retain that wet look somehow.
  22. Yes practice, practice. Here's my 30 min attempt.
  23. Forgot to add this, thought you'd appreciate it:001_smile:
  24. Ha ha very cool. After seeing your thread on 1/2hr owls I thought I'd give it a go, practice for any shows I get to this year. Damn it's not easy! I don't normally do pure saw work and I've discovered I need a lot more practice:laugh1: Si
