  1. A couple of reliefs for some doggy drinking stations today.
  2. I'm left handed (writing/ drawing) and left footed but do everything else right handed. Apparently the term is right dominant. My dad is the complete opposite! Shame you can't get left handed saws, would come in useful when carving.
  3. Yes mate, wood flat bits. Just need to grind out the circle and re grind the two cutting edges.
  4. I'll be receiving a short nose die grinder this week and I'm now focussing my attention on eye tools. I usually do them with chisels but would like to experiment with this new toy. Has anyone used these ice carving "bubble bits" on wood? They look great and could be made from adapted flat bits but I can't shake the feeling that they could give you a mighty kickback! If someone has any experience of these please enlighten me:biggrin: 3/8" bubble bits
  5. Just cleared it cheers bud:001_smile:
  6. Nice one, although I don't know the part number:001_rolleyes:
  7. Felix that would be brilliant mate. Thanks for looking, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)Si
  8. Gutted for you, some people have no scruples. As already said rebar insert or a series of long screws driven in down the grain should nacker their chain enough for them to give up.
  9. Re-worked an old carving for the kids and let them do a paint job on it( I helped a little)
  10. Hi, I'm trying to fix up my dads old macCat 839 The drive sprocket snapped its cog years ago and I was hoping someone on here might have a good used one in their saw bin or if not can you get new ones? Do Oregon make a compatible sprocket? It's not been used for over 10 yrs but from memory it was .325 Any leads would be great, thanks, Si
  11. Thanks Alec, Well put and very informative.
  12. Hi Alec, I'm interested in working out the volume of the logs I'm carving. They are bought by weight which is not ideal and I'd like to see how much of a difference there is between weight price and Hoppus price. In your calculation above you divide by 144 and then x the log length, I was looking online for the calculation and this one hoppus foot you x length first and then divide by 144 I'm confused again:lol: Cheers, Si
  13. ah nice one scudmonster:thumbup1: It's been one of those days, can't get my brain to work:001_rolleyes:
  14. As in the title, what is the proper name/term for this kind of growth? I'm wanting to replicate this kind of thing in a carving coming up soon and would like to expand my visual search online. Thank you in advance folks, Si
  15. Hi John, I'd be interested in that PM or has it been lost in the system?
  16. Lets hope he doesn't check in on here too:laugh1:
  17. The guy obviously didn't have the nouse to flip a photo or trace a picture:001_rolleyes: If he sees your latest pair mirroring each other he'll be sorted Tom:laugh1:
  18. Sorry mate, not been back here since. I'd of had that if I had the money. I was expecting it to be going for silly money like the last of the toppers.
  19. Great first stab mate, I've not looked on here for a while, I'll try and add to your new thread soon:thumbup1:
  20. Different filters too, maybe more differences on top of that. 18 stoner, how much was that saw going for?
  21. Anyone heard of or used this? LifeTime :: Multi Shield 5 Litre £19.98
  22. Nice boards, Don't know about baby oil but the paraffin oil from the chemist is really cheap. Last bottle I bought was only a £1, think it was 250ml.
  23. Cheers Stubby, I've just read somewhere that the 560 has a smaller bar mount and not available in US, the 562 has larger mounts for bigger bars, presumably for their big softwoods. I think I'd want to buy more local anyway:001_smile:
