  1. If anyone's looking for chainsaw training I can recommend HW forestry in Dumfries. Got us through some courses recently really enjoyed the delivery and also pointed us in the right direction for funding which saved me %50!
  2. I had a look at the new 230 Timberwolf at the apf and was impressed with it, plenty of changes made. Wider infeed hopper, grease nipples outside the body, lock bar for changing blades, bigger blades etc I think when the tracked one comes out we will be investing!
  3. Hi all, saw this on a mature monkey puzzle today. I think it's meripilus, early stages. Frond like and Bruised dark underneath about ten minutes after I gave it a little squeeze. Any other thoughts? Thanks
  4. Thanks for reply Yes the two nearby trees were prunus avium. If it was the scale insect you suggest what implications if any would that have for the tree?
  5. Can anyone give me any info on what these are? On a Maple tree mostly on the underside of the branches. Trees next to it didn't have any?
  6. I can vouch for treevolution they know their stuff!
  7. I tried it. Actually just cancelled it today. The jobs on it all seemed to really small bitty jobs I was on it for about a year and never realy saw any decent jobs from it. Also I think some of the prices to buy leads are ridiculous, some are £30 just to get their name and number
  8. Go to Ireland they grow like weeds over there!
  9. This is ours, happy with it the previous wooden sides always left a mess to clear up
  10. I know, that was my argument aswell. The nptc Certs also had to be included in the paperwork we sent away. No idea why they have specific tree surgeon cards! Just extra red tape
  11. Yeah you can get on a site with the general labourers card that's true. Probably no one will ask about a card if you have one but if a site manager did pick up on the fact you don't have the tree surgeon version you probably wouldn't get to work on the site. Like I said just a money making idea!
  12. Is that for the general labourers card though or the arborist version?
  13. Rules have changed now unfortunatley. Even to renew you will have to go though the one day ROLO course. There is more info on BALI website
  14. We went through that process recently. Basically it is a money making scam but you can't either get a new cscs card or renew your old one without going through Bali. The insist you pass a ROLO course and also your cscs multiple choice test. To get a ROLO pass you have to attend a one day course on health and safety of landscaping tools. Which is terrible and of very little worth in terms of health and safety awareness in my opinion. Anyway once you have both you can then apply for yor card. To complicate matters if you are on site you must have at least one person certified as a 'supervisor' rather than 'operative' and yes that requires more tests I think you have to sit the cscs test for a construction supervisor which wouldn't be quite as easy to pass as the one for a labourer. A lot of hassle and red tape and another way to get money out of the working people of the world!
  15. It's a course called signage lighting and guarding. To do with the proper placement of road signs etc. if there was an accident due to a misunderstanding with a sign you put out on a road and you didn't have the ticket you could be liable for the accident as far as I am aware. It's only a day course tho we did it in dec
  16. Also in terms of removing the tree, would it need to be burned on site?
  17. I was wondering if anyone had experience with removing trees infected with this disease? We have been asked to remove a conifer that has died recently and advised that the tools needed sterilised afterwards. Any suggestions as to how to go about that?
