  8. I have some wood for sale, mostly wild cherry but a little walnut also. Got a few pics of the cherry here, a range of sizes and lengths about 4t in total, fresh cut. We are in central scotland, give me a pm for more details. Also have 5 walnut boards planked into 2inch thick lengths of approx 7ft long by 2ft wide, dried for 2 years
  9. I think they could def be useful! Maybe not the chipper but the grapple would save a bit of back Ache loading logs and looks light enough to transport around no problem. Probably the kind of thing you'd find work for easily if you had one. Any idea of price??
  10. Thanks for the replies so far!
  11. I'm in central scotland, but I haven't had much luck finding anyone up here so far? Looking for a full box, at the moment we have ply wood sides and I'm fed up of clearing up the chips that blow up and out the back. Full box looks better too I think.
  12. Hi all, I'm looking to get a good quality, lightweight chip box made up for my ford transit and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for companies who could help me??
  13. thanks for the feedback. so either way not good news for the tree?
  14. found these mushrooms at the base of a semi mature sycamore. tree is roadside with a slight lean towards it. prob 60 feet high with a diameter of 3 feet at the butt. found two lots of mushrooms. one group spread over a metre and one tight group at the very base. looks like honey fungus to me, any other ideas??

  20. i have a section of walnut i am looking to sell and wondered roughly what its worth. its been planked into two inch boards, approximately 9 ft long, by 19 inches across. the staining of the dark wood is over 80%. any rough ideas per board?
  21. the house is 18 years old, not the most likely to have subsidence problems i wouldnt think, and im not sure about the soil type im afraid! i will be going back out to see them shortly i will have another look!
  22. i recently visited a client who explained to me that they have been experiencing what they believe to be root problems causing damage to their house. the cause is potentially a large sycamore tree which stands approximately 5 metres from the house. the question she asked me is could i prove that the roots were the cause of the problem? the tree is protected and the council require proof of root damage before they will consider removing the tree. i advised her that without any excavation work all i could say was that due to the size (height 50 feet, crown spread 40 feet) and the proximity to the building that it was very possible the tree could be causing the problem but i am not sure how this could be proved?? any advice would be welcome!! also may be significant the house actually stands about 10 metres from the tree but they added a conservatory about 5 years ago which is now 5 metres from the butt. the roots at the butt are also raised in a mound, but not protruding through the grass.
