  1. Try APS (access Platform Sales) They have several:biggrin: I dont know how cheep they will be though:001_huh:
  2. I am a Trainer in Horncastle but you would be best speaking with Paul Peacock Training provider of Tree Tech running courses near Boston. Tel 07740 178497.
  3. Agree your term and conditions prior to work starts and stick to them. You need cash flow as well! If they are worth working for they will sort it out.
  4. Accurate statement. If we stay to our ethics we will be regarded as professionals:thumbup1:
  5. If I ever get to this stage I would be thinking of a change in career:confused1:
  6. 4 Klemhiest to ether front of munter or controll tail Back up should always be positioned behind the friction device. If two hands are requiered to release the Klemheist above the friction device. Who is holding the tail and operating the muntr?!!! practice practice practice it till it becomes second nature then go back for your test. if you cant remember prehaps you may consider another day or twos training Good advice
  7. I Think the seasons are to variable now. I pick em if they feel soft.
  8. Suby's come in when I have a too much work for my full time guys. Yes we dont earn much of them but it is additional income to our normal day and the client gets the job done sooner than we could normally get to it. It is also good to keep the guys on their toes
  9. I have not come accross a 'qualified' sub-contract climber yet in my area. Top pay I have paid has been £190 plus travel because he was over 40miles away and faultless work! Bottom pay has been a hand shake but no thanks! So many go it alone to soon and do not have the experience, evident in the shortfall of both obtaining all relavant tickets, Kit and also keeping them in date! They get away with it for a bit untill an accident happens!! If anyone in lincs can prov me wrong. I will stand corrected and will gladly use yours services. Once I have received your tickets and references.
  10. Slows are plentiful this year. I add 1lb fruit to 1lb suger to 1l Cheep Gin. To start with any way. I then start experimenting. What recipe do you use?
  11. Ring around and ask. You don't ask, you dont get> I pay £100 average for contract climbers supplying their own top handle and C Kit. I ask for certs CS38,39,40,41, FA, in date. i.e. within 5 year refreshers. Also 6 month lolered C Kit. Often over looked but necassary for a 'proffesional'!

  13. False cotch created with a split tail / strop above the injured party. Idealy a belay line should be pased through a pulley atatched to this split tail. At the base of the tree a figure eight should be atatched to another split tail / strop. Pass the belay line through this and 'back it up' with a prussuk or blakes beneath the figure eight idealiy atatched to a seperate but shorter split tail / strop. Atatch your self and injured party to the system as you would if the injured partys work line was damaged. Load the system and 'check prior to removing' your and the injured partys restraints to the tree. Sounds like a lot of split tails but you can use the oposite end of your or the injured partys ropes and redundant equipment on the injured partys harness. i.e. land yards. sorry no pics:001_rolleyes:
  14. Yes the pole resque was added in 2010 to both the Lantra training and City & Guilds assesment.
  15. A bit far for me. But if you where within range I estimate £400-£800 + the dreaded man.
  16. Stump grinder with out a doubt. 66 stumps and shrubs does not warrant a mulcher in my book.
  17. I had the same symtoms on our vermeer. We changed the fuel filter and cleaned the fuel system through out. Have had to do this twice now in 2 years! Sorted our machine. Symptoms where loss of power after 10 minutes grinding when under load only. The machine would sound fine untill you put it in the stump and even when you try moving it after 15minutes. Stood the machine for 10minutes to let it cool and it will work fine again for 10minutes!
  18. I could be available this week to look at. 07971 979372
  19. They are best attached by removing or adding along side the ring/d's on the sliding band. If you have fixed D's a krab would need adding to connect.
  20. Clearly the council have an interest in the trees and they where planted for a reason under planning the new dwelings. Give them a ring ask the history and present status of the order/planning conditions. Usually active for at least ten years. They will not refuse reasonable work that will benifit the remaining trees. Maintenance is to be expected with plantings like this.
  21. As an employer and Lantra trainer I expect all novice operators to where c gloves. After all they where designed with exactly this situation in mind. Not full proof by no means but some protection. May mean he can still play the piano. 'Take away the saw' I agree.
  22. Give the guy the PPE and he mite not be as scard of the machine and so start to get to grips with the job:lol: With a few days supervision/training.
  23. This is poor advice to be advertising to novice chainsaw operators. Just look at how he is holding his saw with his thumb on top of the front handle pushing a blunt chain:thumbdown: Would not pass the City & Guilds assessment. The Risk Assessment dictates what PPE is to be worn and our HSE ACOP and AFAG guides require gloves to be warn subject to the Risk Assessment. My recent standard setting was clear on this.
  24. Sold 4 * 200T's in the past year on ebay all over £200 plus post + packaging. Although one was lost in the post! Check the insurance covers the cost.
