  1. I was trained in first aid when I was in the army but was always told not to use it in civvy street as i would be open to being sued. A sad fact of the world we live in today but if I can help I would and a good first aid kit is money well spent. Better to have it and not need it than to need and not have it
  2. Forgot to say that I've already bought one. Was one of the first things I bought:thumbup1: as better to be safe than sorry
  3. You bang on there Bob it's not till October. I can't wait for it to come round. Yes Im thinking about the timberland chain saw gloves as they sound good. So far I've got 5 and 8 inch plastic wedges/a pair of tongs/tape measure and holder/tong holder/chain oil/roller guide/files/New bar cover/whistle/combi can. Any one think of any other basics before I place my order? I've already got my saw hat and trousers and just waiting till next month to get my boots. All the best guss
  4. Worth a check tho cheers for that. Was planing on getting a smaller bar any way as think the 18 inch might be a bit big for some things
  5. Well ive got most of the gear mentioned apart from a felling bar on the wish list. Just need to find out the pitch of my chain so I can get the right size files. Then push the magic buy button:thumbup:Also thinking of getting a smaller bar an chain as it's an 18 incher just now
  6. Thanks will see if I can find the roller file and have a look. Seems tongs are the way to go better add a pair to my basket and a belt holder to I guess

  8. Hi probably a daft question but. What's best a drag hook or tongs? Got my cs30/31 in October so looking at buying a few bits as I go. Looking on the FR Jones site and I'm like a kid in a sweet shop have got my saw and most of my ppe but the mrs has just given us 200 buck to play with:thumbup: so far I've got my combo can chain oil loggers tape and a new bar cover. Any thing else you guys can think off. Cheers guss
  9. Looks a sore one. Hope he has a smooth recovery
  10. All depends on where you are as in Scotland you can apply for an ILA. It gives you unto £200 towards the cost of your course. That's how I'm helping to pay for my cs30/31 also think you can apply for a new ILA every year as well
  11. Have a look on pigeon watch and put it in to the search function as it's been asked quite a few times so plenty more info there to scroll through
  12. I've heard they are good for the money but as been said some gat's don't like them. Hopefully yours isn't one of them. What you shooting?
  13. My good deed was on Friday night. Was just finishing a job and away to load my tools onto the motor and glanced round to see an old bloke trying to pick up his false leg. His wife gave him a hand to pop it back on then he starts playing with his wheel chair so I ask if there ok turns out the grub screw that holds the foot plate on had come out. Seeing as it was the middle of town and no one else stopped I find my Allen keys and fix it up for him. Typical there in the first box I'd loaded up and right at the back:laugh1: gets his chair fixed and his wife reckons for my helping I'm going to heaven:ohmy:
  14. Go into the shop and see if you get a better deal as a new customer then say that's the deal you want. They should then phone customer services and hopefully get you the same deal. That's what happened for me. iPhone 5 is a bit of a strange one as some say it's no where near ready yet and they are going to put out a newer iPhone 4 s so not sure what to belive really.
  15. I sure have going for the husky tech trousers and the stien climbing boots. Your right about the prices as went to the localish shop to get prices and work out sizes ect. Got home and looked on the FR Jones site and they were a good bit cheaper to so just away to give the credit card a work out shortly lol
  16. Guess I better get the 10/22 out
  17. Very true but not sure of how much the postage would bump up the price. Also not got my tickets yet as not got my course till oct so would have to collect in person
  18. As above really. Any one goinng to it? I'm of down to it on the Thursday to have a look for a new saw thinking about the 261 or similar if the price is right:001_tongue:
  19. Ah fair point my mistake. Goes to show every day is a school day
  20. Have a look for local bee keepers as I'm sure they would take them for free of you. As the bee population is in serious decline. Hope it helps
  21. Hope the wee man pulls though as you and your mrs are showing real grit and courage. Best of luck to you all and thoughts are with you at a difficult time.

    What to do?

I'm just at the stage of buying all my gear. So am just wondering if it's best to buy a new saw or use the money and get a bigger more powerful saw second hand? Any help is grateful.:confused1:
  24. Hi jojam. How's it going? I'm new to the forum and the world of trees. Noticed that you are Aberdeen based to and was wondering if you ever need a free pair of hands at the weekends? As I'm looking to gain experience before I do my cs30/31. I have got most of my own ppe as well. Hope to hear back from you either way. All the best Craig
