  1. Main pottering today , courtesy of a good mate, is a small weathered folding table base that needs a new top. Luckily I made something a few years back that is just the ticket. 2 birds one stone. Happy mate and less clutter in garage. Hardcore pottering! :-)
  2. Morning Another day of pottering. Seems dry enough and not the expected rain. Be well. Be safe.
  3. Morning Bright clear. Milling some Leb Cedar before it gets bonkers. Have fun.
  4. Morning No plans.. Have a great day.
  5. Morning Had some hardcore pottering planned but have been convinced by Mrs that the garage needs creosoting.. Have a great one.
  6. Simple things for me. Rake up all the loose stuff from yesterdays cutting, splitting and stacking. Small bonfire = joy.
  7. Morning Back to it tomorrow, the dread. Your Friday, my Sunday. Have fun.
  8. Morning Pottering - completed. 2 Loads of logs out today and then some splitting and stacking to do. Luckily it's cool and overcast. Have a great one.

  11. Morning Lovely and cool. Hoping last nights orange moon will be replaced by the promised blue one. First load of winter logs to go out then a 4 till 2am shift. Enjoy the great weather while we have it.

  17. @Doug Tait I was lucky is all. Finished at midnight and got home just before 01:00. Sky was clear and minimal light pollution, bingo. Not loads but always awe inspiring. You'll have more chance of the northern lights, something I've missed and would dearly like to see. Onwards. Cheers
  18. Morning Lovely and clear last nigh. Saw a few meteorites and the crescent moon was toasty orange. Grey and dull now but heating up. Not looking forward to the heat later but looking forward to a few days off. Keep hydrated and enjoy.

  22. Morning Had a deep and glorious 4 hour kip and a day off now. Off to mill some oak for a good mate. Hope it stays cool and overcast. Suspect it won't. Have a great one.
  23. Your question was also saying "not just arb". This is the point where it all changes. I think it becomes a dynamic risk assessment type affair. In my view, it is all about the role the PPE plays in the task. (if that sounds right). As said, where there is an inversion and it might be dislodged, yes use strap Where there is impact or chance of it being snagged, caught and then becoming a strangulation risk, no, dependant on risk it could be yes. Where there is speed (motorcycles) or risk of being blown off, yes. Lastly, my pet hate, the chin straps with the cup that sits on your chin....they were banned on bikes as they caused more injuries than they save I thought. Hate em.
  24. Morning Late finish but now it's day 5 and then my weekend....at bloody last. Have a lovely day.
  25. Big Bore No. Why mess with the build (integrity?) of an already cheap saw? For a bit more than the price of a pot and piston couldn't you buy a new Holzforma bigger saw? G288?
