  8. I read your post again. Milling up to 24" Oak, yes 661 all day. 36" bar and Chinese mill would do it. And be able to quickly change the rig to log up the 30" stuff. I ended up removing the dogs to maximise the cut as said by @Muddy42 That then starts to be a faff when you swap to logging up so ended up with 2 saws. 881 and a Panthermill for milling only and 661 for logging and small 18-22" milling jobs. All depends on how much milling you are doing. Ripping chains for the mill make better finish and skip chains for easier time on the saw but are not really good for logging up. It's a tough call, all based on how much you are doing.

  20. Morning Not as humid as last night. Cool , so back to the ash at the farm. Have a good one.
  21. re: Pottering vs Bimbling I see them as quite similar except, Pottering is you have no plan and a small task presents itself. You get about it, as said with help from Tea and contemplation time. Bimbling, on the other hand, You have a task, whether you want it or not, and are going about it slowly. Taking every opportunity to stop and procrastinate more. I am a fan of Pottering. I try not to bimble. :-)
  22. Morning A tidy up day. Loads of ash to split and stack. No action beer shot for @PeteB but here are some take outs from the beer shop / bar. Didn't fancy the Uranus one!
  23. Morning Clearing up the ash fells from yesterday and then a bit of informal clay shooting. Then Mrs has promised to take me out for a beer this evening. Life is great. Have a good one.
  24. Morning Logs out today and a bit of time in the woods at the farm. Should be a good one. Have a safe one.
  25. Morning Nothing to report. Have a great one.
