  1. I don't really see what empire has to do with defeating the nazi's. Empire building is what Hitler and his cronies were engaged in. The best defense against invading forces is to have good strong relationships with as much of the world as possible. Isolating ourselves is clearly moving in the opposite direction.
  2. Have you ever looked into mindfulness meditation Stihlmad? It can help break the link between stimulus and automatic reaction/emotion. Could be a useful addition to your coping mechanisms?
  3. It would have been, had the Catholics not booked out all the rooms.
  4. The only Hornbeam in existence is the one Stubby lives in. Knock three times on the little door and hide. He has to come all the way down from the canopy. Hours of fun.
  5. Those photos are taken about 100 yards from my Woodland. Would make quite some extraction vehicle.
  6. Ah! I only ever pass it on the way back from the pub.
  7. Thought provoking stuff scotspine. What's your personal take on it?
  8. Chief suspect Al Bert-Ross continues to be questioned by the Bill. They have no cormorant at this time.
  9. Hi Simon, Are you aiming to work under someone else as a cutter or take on a full woodland management role? With a bit of leg work either can be achieved from a standing start.
  10. Two words. Ben Stokes. You've all seen the footage. Do not approach a ginger. If they catch a glimpse of themselves reflected in your eyes they will lash out with unprecedented savagery. Mentally twisted by the sheer injustice of it all. You have been warned.
  11. "I've gOT a brand new CONifer 'arvester and I'll GIVE YOU THe key. THANKS JON!!???
  12. Dooby dooby doo My stove has a flue Shoo wop doo wop I got it from a shop Killer tune!
  13. Still trying to work out why the future would be so bleak with him in it.? Always struck me as quite a nice chap.
  14. You never know. Keep your nose clean and maybe they'll rethink that lifetime ban from the OAP yoga class.
  15. Remember what the nice doctor said Stubby. Set the shower to cold, then sit for a while in a darkened room and think of grandma.
  16. No doubt he was invoking the latin, 'individualis tremendous'
  17. Agreed. As difflock alludes to, equality of opportunity should be strived for. Equality of outcome is more than a bit silly and will not end well.
  18. If the ground is not firm I just put a strap around the tree below the cut, feeding around under the foot of the jack. This prevents any backwards or downwards motion.
  19. I've got a Reipal III tree jack, it's the mid size one from Orion Heating. Excellent on trees where you're not sure which way they want to go and for slight back leaners. As with any equipment you have to learn to use it within it's capabilities. Managed to bend mine on a monster Ash. It's so easy to use, you get tempted to try the ridiculous and defy the laws of physics.
