I wouldn't bother with either tenex or ice tale hollow braid they might be cheaper or even cheaper than cheap if you do it yourself but you'll spend more in the long run, Ocean poly, armour prus are priced high because of there last ability, I've just start to use edelrid tibor III and if I'm honest I prefer it over ocean poly but how long it last or if it lasts as long is a different story, ill let you know. So here are some pictures of my rope wrench tethers. The twin legged tethers are for the DMM hitchclimber pulleys to enable you to use the centre hole to connect your lanyard to whilst advance with the LOTS (lanyard over the shoulder) technique or a chest harness technique, I've also started making DMM pinto pulley tethers with a stitched eye attached for the above reasons on the hitchclimber setup, it's just a prototype at the minute and may make a couple of changes but I really like the pinto tether a lot. I've made a few tethers up for a hand full of climbers free of charge who will be attending the ancient trees of Africa expedition. If those climbers would kindly add there input onto this thread once they've had a go with them that would be very much appreciated, it's always nice to receive feed back. I will be selling both sets of tethers after April once I've given the pinto prototype a fair trial. My first 5 I sell money will go to the children's trust charity. I can't really put it up against the unicender as that is in a league of its own!!! But and I will say in my personnel opinion I like the hitchhiker a lot, the tending issue I fount to be a slight issue to start but after a fiddle with the hitch I fount it to be fluent and also responsive to my ever demand, I do feel and I mean I as in my opinion that the weight of a climber really plays a part into the performance side of it. I really enjoyed it for what little time I spent with it and me personally prefer it over the unicender the fact only being I really love working rope on rope. One of my biggest problems I feel it could have is that every time the HH is removed from the rope and put back on the constant fiddling of the hitch to get it set right but I guess with a little more time you may well be able to nail it straight away. Rec climbing today nothing overly excessive but still for a first time use I think I got to grips with the adjustments of it. The duel bridge is kinda weird but at the same time is a really nice feature, being able to have the hitch setup close to your body/chest rather than in your face was a real bonus. Firstly I was looking for the gear loops but I guess that's just changing harness rather than a negative point. First ascent felt really comfy until I started a limb walk and the leg loops kept riding up and crushing my crown jewels at one point, but after a mess around with them later in the day they were loads better and no squishy squishy at all. Movement in it felt real good, one feature I do like are the side D's I thought I might struggle with them after coming from really big D's on the skylotec to the treecores more narrow smaller D's but they were nicely positioned not to even think about there size. So far so good but one niggly thing about them I will say is the leg loop straps are held on with a Velcro strap and when limb walking kept chaffing together!!! Not so much a bad point at the minute but could lead to them wearing quite quick. As its early days I'm going to rate it a firm 8/10 so far but I'm impressed. I have a 24" bar and chain on mine and its a great saw for chogging down a spar with, rarely gets used on the floor but if it does I also have and 18" bar and chain for it and then it really flys, it will pull the 24" but you have to keep it super sharpe else the performance goes right out the window.

So I've been in the market for a new harness after my sklotec kolobri has taken a beating, but after changing my climbing style I decided on something a lot different, I tried out the tree motion but really did not like it, don't get me wrong it's comfy and feels great while climbing but just didn't get on with it, my first choice would have been a petzl sequoia SRT but after trying both the sequoia and the edelrid treecore I fell in love with it straight away. Been pottering about all day looking at work, bank stuff, and shopping as I'm on a rec climb tomorrow so I've not had a chance to use it properly yet, first impressions using it in my shed and kitchen tied to the breakfast bar are pretty comfy, and very adjustable, ill put a couple of photos up now and post a load of reviews on how I'm getting on with it as the weeks go on! Yes David it is very exposed to the elements but is coping ok, the young tree is its own offspring propagated but the owner and now about 4ft tall protected buy rabbit and deer guards I'm sure and 200/300 years to come the next generation of climbers will get some enjoyment out of it! So yesterday we headed to witton in Norfolk to visit one of the uks natural giants the cedar of Lebanon, with only a few survivors left in the UK because man and natural history have not been kind to the species it was absolute pleasure to stand on the shoulder of this giant. Standing tall at 103ft and with a spread of 86ft it was no small fry, the base diameter came in at 2.68m, defiantly worthy of adding to our list of UK gems Thanks to Ian flatters for organising it, I'm sure the owner will be happy with our finding, I did forget to take a picture of its baby replacement but here are a few from yesterday Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
