  1. Thanks guys, yes wally is a true work horse. Probably still out run most young ones The alpine tie is the fastest by far way to tie it any other way now just seems a pain in the butt. The running bowline with long is ok, there's quicker ways of setting a timber measuring tail, I just used that as one example. The rope runner is a thing of beauty Paul, very easy to get acquainted with, but it's never going to compete with a hitch. Well for me IMO for now anyway The 150tc is a cracking saw, worth its weight in gold as they say. Forget pruning! It's on every job I go to. If I need a big saw to start I just pick up the 346
  2. Old Friend of 75 started this small conifer a while back. It got a little to much for him and asked if I'd come down to finish it of. I made a few editing mistakes and I have no idea how the real guys make it cool as fook.. Anyway 50 minutes work made a 15 minute video! With a coupe of tunes thrown in there. Stripped the brash with the 150tc then chugged the wood of with the 346xp enjoy as much as you can haaaa!
  3. I think despite what's going on, buckling, traffic compression in the root system, fungi, ect where talking about a pine! There's really not much you can do to it other than remove. There's obviously something going on but in my opinion and with only seeing 2 photos I'd say out it. sorry I can't give any scientific explanation buddy
  4. Ok I'll take a stab at this! The gold paint could be the reminiscence of dyers mazegill which is parasitic causing brown heart rot, normally stating from the base eventually up the stem. Or!!!!! I have no idea and just fount the closet thing I could think of in the fungi app!! Either way it needs felling.
  5. You would have to be doing something seriously wrong to take an impact in that region of your head! The way the helmet splays out would secure your head from any fall. Kask/Stein helmets are very comfy and if looked after will see you right. This feature has never bothered me at all, but I guess each to there own. There was a little debate about something I did with a kask Helmet on Facebook, a little inappropriate test and asked for people's views on them! We did all come to the conclusion that you should really consider the amount of UV damage our lids are subjected to. So not all bad I guess.
  6. Choice is yours really mate! I like petzl no matter one anyone says
  7. Always worth it Luke, long ascents are a killer on the upper body and why not utilise your legs!! Silly not to really ?
  8. The beginning of last year I set out with a plan, and while everything that could go wrong did. Financially I'm severely unstable, Health wise I feel good, so this year I will take with a pinch of salt and take each day at a time! I know things will get worst before they get better, but and that's a big BUT! It will take time. Work wise I'm fairly busy. Having taken on call out work over Xmas and new year including today I feel like things are looking up. So this year I'm not really planning much as far as business is concerned but I know I will have to start traveling again and get to were the work is. Most of all I'm just going to enjoy as much of this journey as I can. Happy new year to you Steve and the rest of arbtalk good luck what ever it is you've got planned.
  9. The DMM porter bags are bomb proof. For my ropes I use a Zega which is also so far indestructible. Love them both.
  10. Very nice videos Gordon, nice work too. Got me thinking about the bull dog now over the rope runner. I've seen your product a few times in videos. Wouldn't mind seeing one in the flesh. Good work keep it up mate
  11. Nicholas thanks for the link very cool. Hyper colossal trees with seeds as big as this. And structures as colossal as this. Wow!
  12. Cheers guys and yes dan quite something hey
  13. An old article but still worth a read. I was just wondering if anyone else had any information on the petrified wood there talking about? Photos anything really. Ancient trees more than twice the height of the tallest giant redwoods
  14. Haaaa! It's ok mate I forgot how to tie a blakes hitch once haha!!
  15. Same here rich it's nice and simple low if any gear and although not fool proof very hard to get wrong
  16. Really don't get the hype on these rescue base anchors! Ok don't get me wrong they do have there place. I just feel people are making over complicated setups for no reason what's so ever. We never had lower-able set ups like this in ddrt. The chances of the climber having an accident without being lanyard in is pretty slim. IMO the most effective rescue anchors are the most simple.
  17. No mate, the spacer is only needed when textiles such as rope slings ect are being placed into the holes, the spacer stops the side cheeks being quashed together. And it's ok that's what we are all here for mate
