Shouldn't need to set it mate, if you can find away of stopping it from dropping onto the hitch or in a neutral position that would be cool!! Agree with Drew though the hitch is a little long for the tether or visa versa Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

It will always engage on decent mate having it sat like that whist in a work position could become a little dangerous if something was to hit it! I like to make sure my wrench is engaged most the time, but if I feel something could hit it and engage the hitch sending me into rapid decent then I'll make sure it's sat right Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

You can just girth hitch a retrieval ball on the rope but rope guides or and cambium/friction savers should always be lowered to the floor not dropped Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

I think you need to wash up mate! Quick glance it looks fine mate, if it's a little slippery or won't bite straight away then pull the 2 legs apart so that it dresses the hitch a little tighter! Then fiddle with it and job should be a good n' you ain't gonna see what it's like until you get out the house though really mate Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

Sounds a combination of too short hitchcord for that cord type your weight ratio and your mind for not liking the way something sits!! Ditch the petzl pulley go back to the hitchclimber, forget what it looks like it does the job an extremely well IMO. Get yourself a 70/75cm length of beeline and try a 3 wrap Knut! Tell me it's not working then and I'll give you my complete setup! Rope hitchcord pulley tether and wrench! An I'll even start using Ddrt with a Prussic for a whole month!! I always make my anchor point my tie in point, even if I leave my base anchor on! That way I know is idiot proof from the little devil trolls and loppers I have no regrets and no problems using a single leg of rope for me it makes more sense and less demanding on my arms! I always tie in with my lanyard whilst I'm cutting. Can't see why you wouldn't what ever system you use. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk -
You have to remember about your weight being more or less totally on your hitch now, where as before it was spread across your hitch and termination side of your climbing line! What weight are you and have you tried amour Pruss or Yale beeline? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

From experience they believe the self employed to be a liability! I'm a sub contract climber or as they see it the middle man.. Once work is low and your struggling to keep you own guys going then the first to go is the man in the middle! Although I have had a great 3 year period of nearly 6 years self-employment I do get slack periods! And this is what they don't like!! I was lucky enough to get my house when I was employed but having gone self employed I had to state that to my mortgage provider. They didn't like that one bit and had several advantages like payment holidays taken away from me! It's all wrong in my eyes. But as it stands at the moment I'm still on the verge of loosing the house! Although not through lack of work... Good luck in trying mate and don't give up.. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

Thinning is one of the most useless specs going, in fact it could lead to more trouble for the tree itself! Thinning is normally carried out under a spec to "reduce wind sail" IME it can hinder the tree more doing this! As once the crown is open the wind can then be past through more easily leaving some limbs more vulnerable! The trees canopy relies greatly on what it has grown although some growth is not needed. Almost every thin I see is over done or lion tail and looks awful. What looks like a nice job to let light in for the customer has now turned the tree into a time bomb for wind damage. The tree is plenty enough away from the house and given the space it has a reduction clearly is not needed! 100% with tony on this one. Deadwood only Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

That's all well and good ted mate but unfortunately we live in horrid times, and arbtalkers are not checked for criminal records so technically speaking some members might even be opportunists!!
