  1. Where does it say that?
  2. New rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car from autumn 2021 - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK There will be new rules about towing a trailer or caravan with a car later in 2021. Find out how the changes affect you.
  3. No. I meant the top and bottom of the larch planks. I couldn't see a bit of flat steel like there is at waist height. You didn't screw some batten to the underneath of the top steel did you?
  4. Smart. What are the top and bottom fasteners going into?
  5. River work is fun. I had a cracking couple of days last summer walloping poplars into the Thames.
  6. Probably what Kevin said.
  7. Used neither, have used sailing winches elsewhere, own a Hobbs. If I was buying, it would be the Smartwinch. Not having to change from the winch to the bollard will be a massive advantage, as will being able to use the bollard and winch at the same time. Can't see a downside. My opinion might change if I discovered the SWL of the Smartwinch bollard was noteworthily less than the GRCS bollard but even if it was, I'd probably still go with the Smartwinch and keep a cheap Stein dual in the back of the shed for rare jobs that need repeated heavy negative rigging.
  8. That sounds insane at first but divided down it’s only a Land Rover Discovery on each wire. Surprised they didn’t deflect more.
  9. Never had a problem. I take a short extension lead so I don’t have to go into kitchens etc.
  10. Alder go like breadsticks relatively quickly when dead. Lose strength and flexibility. It’s going to come down at some point. Might as well be now.
  11. Read, you abominably thick twats. He couldn’t have been clearer. He wants to know how to shop for an expert and how to evaluate them and he expressly doesn’t want anything else. Forums madden me in this respect. Millions of tonnes of concrete that could otherwise build hospitals and orphanages instead goes into building server farms just for us to blithely piss away the kilobytes, in this case principally by annoying someone who wants to spend money in our industry.
  12. Does it grip and release? If it does, no problem. If it doesn’t, drop the cord size or change the hitch. I got surprisingly good performance the other day from a klemheist on some quite similar diameter rope/hitch. 11/10 isn’t textbook but it’ll work if you can be bothered to find a knot it likes.
  13. That winch is the archetype of committee design. Loads of shit, most of it replaceable with simplicity.
  14. Hip hop video. Slags in gold bikinis. That sort of thing.

  17. Eddie’s solution seems fine and free. Are hoses OK sat with kinks like that?
  18. Excellent answers. Thank you. Not at all offended at being told basics. That's what I need to learn. However talk of sucking eggs, regardless of his helpful contribution to this thread, can quite happily happen elsewhere on the internet please.
  19. I have a feeling they'll fill up and overflow after an hour or two but for £4 will nevertheless have a go. Look good for keeping them clean though. Good find. Thanks.
  20. I've just bought my first piece of plant, a little skidsteer. One of the auxiliary hose couplers leaks slightly when the hoses are dangling unused when I don't have an implement plugged in. Not enough to bother replacing the hose since I'll almost certainly break it in the machine learning curve soon anyway. Can you get caps or blanked off couplers or something to keep the ends clean and from dripping hydraulic oil into the machine frame? Any suggestions? New ish to machines so don't know what things are called etc.
  21. Yes. When was the last time government interference in anything made anything better?
