  1. Chip box. A million tiny sticks.
  2. Crash gybe/jibe preventers look the best thing for up-tree adjustable friction. Not tried. They just look right.
  3. Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership JPFO.ORG America's Most Aggressive Defender of Firearms Ownership My favourite pressure group. Wish they were better publicised.
  4. Well there’s a rectifiable mistake if ever there was one. He can ride in the tractor cab with you and enforce men at work signage. Yesterday’s shoot is on a dairy farm. Sailor was in the van cab over lunch, which now smells like the yard.
  5. I rented a similar spec FSI B22 a while ago. Driven wheels, manual slew (on a bearing or something), same power probably. Lovely thing. I do very little grinding btw because I thought I hated it. I actually hated blunt rental machines. Sharp teeth and it’s a dream. Thought you might appreciate the input from this side so to speak
  6. I was thinking about your vacancy yesterday. I trust every day’s a little easier?
  7. I took a hammer and some big nails up my first one to aid choking if needed.
  8. It’s called forest bathing. £110 per person please.
  9. I’m listening to these three for the several millionth time.
  10. More weights or you might as well register as a charity and introduce yourself with your pronouns.
  11. IS THAT A ZERO, YOU RAGING GAYLORD?!
  12. Yeah. That bin does. I was picturing an oil drum. There's nothing stopping anyone tying it on to a chain I suppose.
  13. I assumed the bucket would be upside down so it self locates and doesn't fall off.

Have another look in the morning once your chow mein's worn off.

He's here for a good time, not for a long time. Though I do admit that approach didn't work out for my crèche business.

Not a lot of sprawling big bramble patches, just the usual tripwires. The thickest stuff is gorse, which is how he will lose an eye one day. Face first, no fxcks given.
  17. Including for balancing diagonals?

Sailor hasn’t got a bloody clue. It’s just a raucous walk. He gets into cover a bit but doesn’t search it assiduously. I sometimes throw sticks at where I want him to look. He’s on a long lead so I can stop him if he does want to flush fifty (not that that’s ever going to happen on this shoot). The lead is a pain but there are hares and deer and I’m not yet part enough of the furniture to take the risk of him chasing them. I say risk. It’s a certainty.

That’s a lovely little pack you have there. Who’s in charge?

Sailor’s little excited face when he realised where we were going this morning (beating - five hours of being encouraged to chase things).
  21. How very novel. I've broken all the usuals over the years; gutters, tiles, greenhouses etc. I didn't do any of them with a 45 gallon drum though.
  22. Clever but I imagine only worth the faff if you’re doing loads of base-cut picks or are suffering some prohibition of hook riding.
  23. Did you get the weights right on the bottom? I’ve done a couple of those and the butts were surprisingly heavier than the middle stem. I’m not mega strong so all chains are heavy to me. My process: 1. Have the crane driver position the chain ends on the pith, without you on the hook. 2. Cable down until the main hook touches the pile of chain. 3. Climbing system onto the hook/ball. 4. Cable up to get you onto the plateau and until there’s only a few feet of chain on the pile. 5. Arrange the choke (secret handshake - leg one chokes onto leg two, leg two chokes onto leg one) around the edge, cabling up/down as needed. 6. Push it all off together and it slips down over the stem like putting a heavy jumper on a child. 7. Usually only very minor wrestling to set the chains and you’re tied in to do it. Don’t let the crane driver slew or boom you around. He’ll lose the position over the pith.
  24. There are tree friction devices that work like a Petzl STOP. They look fairly good for up-tree use.
