  1. more randoms a tree in Atlanta Georgia Jean jeanie is A lovely VS (one of the top 20 in the UK according to someone with a beard) And a white Oak Which got belted by lightening the night before i took the pic... loud doesn't come close.
  2. Loving the vineyard pic Ben R... do you get to drink the produce?
  3. Good luck bud
  4. Cheers Lawrence chief... A big up from you makes my head swell even bigger than all this hair makes it hahah

  5. I bet you have Lawrence pal! I'm slow on the old free lancing lark... lucky to have the teaching ticking over... did everyone spend too much money on easter eggs?
  6. Hello Well qualified climber for hire. All aspects of modern tree care (fine pruning and nice reductions) Experienced tree removals using various rigging techniques and crane work. Efficient production climber All round grafter and nice bloke. Just Moved to Cumbria from the North East where I was freelance climbing for numerous companies, references available. Willing to travel... but not too far from the mountains! 07534 979 068 [email protected]
  7. Where are you based? I know a great bunch of fellas who are based in London... Might be able to point you in the right direction... spesh if you can show them what you can do:)
  8. How do lorry, you were missed pal... need to get those bairns of yours climbing, they'll earn you a few medals for sure!
  9. Arb Fair North and the Arboricultural Association Arborist Tree Challenge climbing comp brought not only North east arbs out but also folk from manchester, preston, York and Inverness to name a few. There are lots of reasons I enjoyed the First Arb Fair North, apart from the obvious... (its closer than other shows, the lush hog roast:001_tt2:, the prizes, decent weather and bunch of decent exhibitors) ...I love the way when you put a load or tree people together you get to realise that our little industry is full of a lot of good folk! I had great chats with people who know their shizzle and have the time to share their thoughts and demo ideas (thanks Paul and Nick from the 3ATC climbing comp) Cracking banter with people who came from all over the shop.. big hiya to The Inverness School of Forestry and Arb... Mr Valentine it was a pleasure. Perhaps there was a little over indulgence with the rest of the campers but we had a good night to BBQ and banter. Style awards to the myerscough team who turned up to climb in the comp all sporting very desirable t-shirts. . . all I can say is... "Bosh" Thanks to all the organisers, spesh Nick of kirkley Hall fame and peter from Dustcarts... I mean Gustharts. Thanks to Mr Tony Derbyshire, My second Saw pod is shaping up to be even more prized than the veteran. At the risk of sounding sentimental or a bit simple It's just great to feel that there are other Arbs about that are up for meeting up networking learning and sharing.....and having a bit of booze cake!!! I just wanted to encourage anyone that didn't get to this arb fair or might not attend one closer to them... Its good to talk, but its better to get stuck in and try and win some kit! Then there is always camping over and having a brew or 2! So I am looking forward to the next comp and the next chance to meet like minded people to share a bit of the craic with... Cheers all ps Hello to Mr Nathan Day, I tried to find you on FB but it seems that there is an army of you, perhaps I'll bump into you on Arbtalk?
  10. Both of these knots are kind of hacked up versions of the Distel...
  11. Hello Chaps, i like the Knut but also use a very similar variation called the Happy!! The one difference is in the lowest turn of the hitch... i'll see if i can find a camera! This makes the knot slightly looser and hence faster and quicker to self belay... IMO Used for climbing ops only I tend to mess around with the amount of turns on both the Knut and Happy depending on length of cord and all the other variables (like do I want to be able to plummet or saunter down!) I think I have attached some Pics but i am a newbie to Arbtalk and a luddite too! 1st pic shows the Happy 2nd pic the Knut (sporting one less turn than shown in the other pics) In the pics are: Rope is Tachyon (11.5mm) Prussik is grizzly spliced beeline (8mm by 24cm)
  12. i think I'm in love with the 372.. been chopping all day with a short bar on and its like a fatty in a cake shop.... greedy for more and finished in no time.
