  3. can i sharpen my silky saw ? my uncle decided to pick it up and cut some roots / stones / soil and basicaly degrade its life as they cost alot and im big into my recycling id like to keep it any tips apppart from 'get ur uncle to buy a new one' cheers

  7. i could be wrong but if you cary out any pruing work within 9metres of utiltiys or 15metres if your felling you must imform the electric distributers in that area ??????? . and without being a tool im sure that connys a catigoryA tree with a ABC cable (ariel bundled cable) - insulated mabe but never treat as insulated. to the left u can see tele wires in the foreground you could direction rope the top and top it out (few tops like) , be it on your own head, it may no be a 3phase stacked lv cabe but you could still cause a little damage if 'insulasion' is worn. i had a friend who couldnt wait for me to do his tree and he did most himself until a huge branch he was on snapped onto an abc cable - if it was anything else he could have been toast , what a turkey
  8. hello - im maybe not able to help you out alot of days during the week but if your ever get stuck for help in the future i could be free some thurs / fridays and some weekends if ive got nothing booked in, im based in shiledrow/stanley, a mear hop skip and jump away from yourself . i do my own treework on these days due to working in family garage the rest of week. got cs30/31/38/39/ua1 / all ppe/gear/vehicle im looking for more expierence especialy larger trees or just fill in jobs between my own work - dont mind dragging/chipping brash ethier as my lass usualy does it for me so ive got to have a go sometime. cheers / richie / dr green

  12. i paid £300 for a 2 day course and nptc assesment for my UA1 - best thing i ever did as it opened my eyes to electrical work - paid for itself with safe knowledge for customers ive seen a guy up a tree with a bowsaw cutting a large birch limb for it to snap across an ABC - if this was a 1kv line , o dear , he'd be toasted maybe . got the job to finish the dismantle soon after thou - bonus

  14. looking for somewhere to do my cs39 in northeast england - had mine booked for monday gone however yet again as with all my other units , the college have to put it politly 'messed up' as usual so i wont be returning to futher my education there. any pointers would be tip top people.

  19. hello , can anybody point me to some tip sites in the newcastle / durham areas most waste is chipped and logs , occassional brash too ( like this weekend when my chipper didnt want to play ball at all ) i know of a place in newburn , sandhills i think charging £30+vat per tonnage i load of advice would be great , i do keep alot of wood for my burner but you can only keep so much

  21. ..im just starting out , i quote what i feel is fair, thou my overheads are very small unlike the larger guys --- thou i dont charge pennies but whats is the going rate for every job??? i also run a garage with my brother , we have the same probelm there , we charge fair , we get the work , we try to charge the proper rate like the big boys , and we do a better qualtiy job , customers walk away even thou we have all the right gear same in every trade win some lose some i say, laugh it of at times, if we were all paul mackena's/Derren browns we might have a chance
