  1. Just come back from work, shirt off, beer open, out in the garden
  2. Possibly for us it was something to do with having a customer history
  3. Carr's were the cheapest we could find a 201 (or any other Stihl saw for that matter) from, can't remember the exact price, but it was about 150 under what a Stihl salesman told us it would be.
  4. Seems like the catering people had a good cook and a bad cook to me haha, as for the price I didn't think it was outrageous considering the ridiculous amount you pay at a burger stand. I brought food with me in anticipation of queues, and they were pretty much non-existent! Loved the choice of beers and cider and even sandwiches at the bar, tasty stuff.
  5. People don't like them because having a nice sunny garden is great until the guy next door throws up a huge privacy hedge that blocks all light out from your garden. It isn't a huge issue you find people talking in the street about here but it does piss people off. Campaign groups and Arson are both ridiculous responses by people who live sheltered lives with **** all else going on in them essentially.
  6. I went down yesterday, my first Arb Show, and it was great, loads of stuff I hadn't seen much of before, enjoyed the demos, although I didn't see the cherrypicker one, that sounds a bit dubious. Got some nice new boots from Lister Wilder, and I want every single book from the TreeSource tent haha.
  7. Could you even get him insured? I'm 19 and can't even get a decent quote on a Transit!
  8. I was a veggie from birth to 16, I'm 19 now, and I found a cure. BBQ pork ribs mate, you'll never look back. My first arb show today, shame it doesn't sound like the best. Oh well I'm mainly going to grab some cheap boots and because Merrist Wood are going to be there.
  9. Off to the show tomorrow too, looking to pick up some nice new boots
  10. It was so tempting to say it would be like £2k to sort out, but we're too nice, put it in for £170
  11. We just got the job sorting out what the "tree surgeon" from Rogue Traders did on a hedge in Banbury. It was the job he did for the lady who called them up in the first place, a simple reduction, and the show did not do it justice, I'll put some pics up when we do the job, but it's a complete mess. What's more he charged her £1700!! Like I said picture updates to follow when we do the job, watch this space.
  12. Is the Arb Show cheaper than buying normally? Whereabouts is it? Sorry for the ignorance.
  13. Hi. I'm a groundie for a company from Banbury, and this bloke is well known as a cowboy around us. His van has "Oxfordshire's Number One Tree Surgeon" on the side of it. Errr, probably not mate. Everyone's been speaking to me about this vid, I'm just off to watch it now. EDIT: They've taken it down Someone told me though that their expert got it wrong too, calling a Bird Cherry "Prunus Avium".
  14. I know it's bizzare, maybe something to do with it being slightly smaller?
  15. I've noticed on a couple of Stihl saws that I've used, that the chain oil filler cap won't go back into place. Sometimes it sits in the right position but the top won't turn and sometimes it turns but then just falls out of the hole. I was using my grandad's little MS171 just to chop up some branches and it took me about 20 mins to get it back on! Anyone experienced this/got any advice?
  16. Aha, cheers mate:thumbup1:
  17. Like the title says, let's see what everyone's driving I'd start the ball rolling but I'm unemployed at the moment

    Crap day

I can beat you all in terms of bad days: I spent the entire day in front of the computer going stir crazy looking for some funding/the right courses. I'm still skint, nowhere near me does training, I missed an awesome FREE course by 6 days, and I didn't climb one tree! Hodge it's not all bad mate, your pub does Red Stripe!
  19. Amazing pics guys, I can't wait to have some to put up here!
  20. Trying to work out if, because I'm under 19 for another couple of months, I could somehow get the free education thing that you get at a college to apply to proclimber.
  21. That's the one I was just told about Thing is I'm not sure how far the funding for it will extend. I was kind of hoping that they did an intensive 10/12/whatever week course, but it's all individual tickets, which I don't think I will get funding for from the govt. My ideal setup would be something like the proclimber 6 week course with a few tickets, but that's £5k which is about £4,995 out of my budget:lol:
  22. Ahh, well I've never signed on before and can't really wait half a year for the funding. I hadn't considered college courses before, but I looked at an ad on here for a ten week one in Suffolk and it looks like a pretty good idea to me. Now to find one close to me! Anyone know of any good colleges or anything around Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire? I'm in Banbury but don't mind travelling.
  23. It's the American way, never exert any energy at all when you can build something noisy, inefficient, expensive, and dangerous to do it for you whilst you eat another Big Mac
