  8. Right, here's the problem. We were looking to put in a woodburning stove and the room its going in is approx 5m x 4m with a door leading off into a large kitchen/diner. Want a contemporary looking stove that gives out enough heat to heat both rooms. The two we like are Esse (5kw) and Firebelly (12kw) but cant see anything in between. Any advice on what would be our best option???

  16. i remember once taking the head out of a large dead elm in a cemetery about 8 years ago and not being happy about it but i just got on with it anyway. when it was down i came down smiling then the grave digger shouted across to me this place is full of dead heroes son !!!! it made me think !!!
  17. You look at a tree and tell the custumer that it just needs a wee bit of crown thinning, a bit of dead wood taken out and a couple of limbs over hanging their neighbours garden removed. You explain thats all it needs and the husband then tells you he wants the top taken right off of it, you tell him its bad practice and will look terible but his wife likes sitting in the conservatory and it blocks the sun and thats what he wants. If you dont do it the unqualified leaflet through the door guys will do it with bad cuts and tears and thats the reallity of it so sometimes you just have to do as the customer wants!!!
  18. i know it doesn't look good but best to leave dead stem and foliage until the spring as it provides a wee bit of protection from any more hard weather, cut to ground level and see what comes up !!!! if any shoots appear break off any unwanted ones with fingers dont cut them !!!
  19. Getting off the subject of disposal !!! most cordylines that die back due to frost if cut down to ground level will regrow but will become multi stemmed silkys good for cutting them up !
  20. thats magic, might try one of them tomorrow as work cancelled due to snow !!! needs a fairy on top lol
  21. Thanks for all your comments, and yes the jacket isn't the best!! I've carved a couple of flowers now and they are starting to look better.
  22. just started carving a few months ago, got shown some basics then let myself loose on some logs, most of my creations end up as fire wood at the moment !!!
